So I went to change the starter on my TC24 and I couldn't find feel the second bolt (blind side). Using a mirror there is no nut - is this a threaded hex bolt? Or a stud I should be able to slide the starter off with? Every diagram I see shows two bolts that come out.

Ok, I'm not sure what I'm looking at... but it looks like you have the starter housing separated; which is usually not how I've seen them removed on the TC series. I would check to see if there are not 2 bolts that go through the back side of the housing part that still looks attached.

I'm guessing this is a TC29D or TC29DA & I think the starter housing mounting holes are threaded & the bolts come in from the backside... (I maybe completely wrong... I'm no mechanic... just offering something to check on)

This may or may not help. From the parts diagrams the TC24 starter and the starter on my TC40 DA look very similar. Here is the instructions for removal from the repair manual for my TC40DA. So I would say it is 2 bolts. One may have sheared off the head.

So I found the problem- me. The other bolt goes from the other direction. Not something easily seen from where the tractor is parked and I haven't been able to get to it without the need for a flashlight.

Thanks for the help!
