I've an new holland tc 45 with a hydro and the SS-front axle.
But i've a question.
When I am driving with my mower in 2nd range at +- 2300-2400 rpm is it somtimes hard to drive because sometimes you drive in a little pit so your foot push a bit harder on the pedal. ==> is it normal that the hydro is so sensitive in 2nd gear??

I would slow down some.. I rake hay in 2nd gear(low/high range).. and some of those bumps will jar your fillings loose. Maybe you could mark/flag those spots when mowing and come back later to fill in the dips.

On my TC29D, I use the cruise control for many situations like you describe.

Ken, Greg is from Belgium. His tractor has a European version PTO that provides 540 PTO rpm at 1750 engine rpm. I guess that saves fuel, but I also know our hydrostatic transmission work best at 2000 rpm or above.

Greg PM'd me and I answered back essentially the same as the other poster here who said to use cruise control. I know my wife had a hard time not surging when she first started using our tractor. When I showed her how to use cruise, she was smiling from ear to ear. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Of course, Greg said he was mowing at 2300-2400 rpm, so his engine is producing a lot of torque and in Hi-turtle, a small movement of the pedal can cause jerking. Your answer to slow down may be the best considering his terrain.

That's what I was going to recommend at first too.. but I know those dips/holes can bounce the tractor pretty good making controling/driving the tractor unsteady.. whether your foot pushes down on the pedal or not.

My back isn't as young as it use to be either.. some of those jolts can make your back hurt.. I know I grunt when I hit a good one! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
