New Holland TN75a issues

I work for a KY County Government.

Today we looked at two TN75a 2wd tractors with sickle mowers at State Surplus. Both extremely clean low miles/hour machines with good pricing, but there痴 a catch with each.

Tractor 1

Tractor will not move forward or reverse without Diff Lock depressed. It痴 like a axle is stripped/broke or Something else along those lines. As long as the diff lock is depressed it moves fine.


Tractor 2

Third gear will not stay engaged, it kicks out. You can put it in third gear and hold it in with your hand and it seems ok. It痴 the same in any 途ange you put it in.

These are priced cheap enough we can afford to do some work on them but I壇 like to hear some thoughts.

Tractor 1 has a broken half shaft. Diagnose which side, pullwheel, final drive. Replace half shaft, reassemble. ROPS will need to come off, or at least 2/3 of it. Easy fix, I did one in a customers barn one day. Transmissions are more labor intensive, #2 needs to be real cheap.

We are going to pick them both up, we can buy them for $4,000 each with Alamo Sickle Bar mower attached.

We will fix the one with the probable broken half shaft, will probably just Use the other one with 3rd gear gone until something totally prevents it from being used in the other gears.
