New holland Tz24DA Question

First of all Hi to everyone I'm new here so if I screwed up be nice I learn quick....

I have a simple question: On the tractor above should there be some kind of gasket or seal between the filler neck and the fuel tank? Mine was "glued" on(and the glue failed) which I initially thought was a crude repair but maybe not... Looking at my parts manuals and service diagram it doesn't look like this is supposed to be two pieces but mine is and it looks factory(aka not broken). The glue which looks poor and has come undone, lodged itself in the tank and the reason I took it apart to clean it

Now for the whole story

I inherited this Tractor from an owner that was frustrated with it as it would run 30 mins or so then die, also the key doesn't work to crank it (but the starter works and jumping it starts the tractor fine so likely a bad relay). It's been sitting in my shop for 1-2 years and I finally decided to poke at it.

Started with looking at the fuel system, all the lines are poor, swollen, collapse easily so I started replacing them all, all the filters, noticed the little reserve tank had been bypassed and decided it wasn't much work to take both it and the fuel tank off to clean them. Then I noticed the filler neck glue was cracked and a good entry point for junk and thought I'd fix it properly by ordering a gasket for the filler neck. I can't seem to find such a part(making me think the glue is factory) and came here to see if anyone knows before I make the long drive to my dealer to get a part that probably doesn't exist.

Before running to the dealer to purchase a part that probably doesn't exist consider calling his part's desk. If there is some kind of a gasket they're not likely to stock it, anyhow. It is likely the fuel tank is supposed to be one piece, including the filler neck. It's possible the prior owner broke the neck off the tank and attempted a repair. , well I have one but no sim card just use internet for everything... there are minor inconveniences like this

I did email them though.

Here is a picture. It doesn't look broken to me. You can see some left over glue I peeled most of it off. The upper ring of the base of the filler neck was in the tank with glue sealing it upwards and also on the outside gooped like it was done by a gorilla

TO me I'm thinking there should be a rubber gasket there or something like a traditional fuel tank.

Parts lookup has an o-ring for the gas cap, nothing listed on the base of the neck.
Looks to be friction fit, I don’t see where a seal or o-ring would improve it.

Nothing stops it from falling in except the glue so the glue would then be factory. It also leaks like crazy(when the glue failed)...

I didn't see a part # either so thought I'd check with you guys just in case before just gluing it again (I'll probably plastic weld it to be honest as HDPE is basically just a wax and no way glue will ever stick to it long term.)

Guessing the right way to fix it then is a new tank

So looking at it some more today I decided it is two piece but factory welded (just like the line out is) and it just broke perfectly clean on that factory seam and the PO must of glued it... I welded it back on this morning with some PE rods, cleaned out the crap in the tank and That'll be that

Always liked the TZ series, sharp looking tractors that were laid out well.

Yeah overall I love my simplicity a lot more but for mowing grass and Blowing snow/simple chores this one will be a winner.

I'll keep the simplicty for the garden and ground work as it has a lot more ground clearance/bigger overall and just feels better "actual farming", I don't think I could hill my potatoes and corn without ripping them right out with the New Holland. The Simplicty has 15" of clearance in the back and 14 in the front vs maybe 6 for the NH. Unless they can take bigger tires I'll leave the tough chores to the Powermax.
