i have to agree with you (I HAVE NO MEMORY) vermeer is the best in my oppinoin. i have mowed with a few others but vermeer was the best,in customer service. they really do try to take care of the customer and anser any and all questions. they build very good equipment.i know of 2 other mowers in this area other then mine ,they are top notch. you wont go wrong ever buying vermeer, and you get what you pay 4 when you buy the rest.

Most farmers cannot to afford to buy the "Best" of anything. If they did, even more of them would be going broke. For example, If I were mowing 1000-2000 acres per year, that would make me look at the "High Dollar" units because I probably generate enough cash flow to pay for it. In reality, most of my Farmer customers mow 20-30-50-100 or so acres per year and they cannot justify paying double price for a disc mower, tractor, hay rake or baler or anything else. Just like everyone cannot afford to drive a Rolls Royce. Typically, my customers have a off farm job and so does the wife. These 2 off farm jobs allow them to farm for pleasure and relaxation and also provides a strong opportunity for the parents to teach a good work ethic for their kids being raised on the farm. We actually could build a few mowers from ground up with our parts inventory. Ken Sweet

From my 20+ experience working for a JD dealer I find it hard to believe that Sweet Equipment stocks every required part to build a "few mowers" from ground up with your parts inventory.

You still didn't answer my question. Has Sweet Equip sold nearly a 1000 disc cutters as you stated in this thread or 1000's as you stated on the other tractor forum that you & I frequent??????

Your question does not deserve a answer. I said what I mean and I meant what I said. Why are you always trying to start trouble on forums that you are on? Do you have a personal vendetta against me or a Axe to grind or what? Don't you have anything better to do? Ken Sweet

How is questioning a statement you made "trying to start trouble"?

I have no personal vendetta against you or anyone else. I have over 50yrs combined experience in agriculture and JD dealer employment. Just because you or anyone else chooses to make a statement without proof and I challenge that statement doesn't mean I have a vendetta it just means I choose not to believe the statement and challenge the statement.

I'll quote an old saying "The proof is in the pudding".

In the future I will refrain from commenting to your sales posts. Have a nice day!!

Get on a plane and fly up to Ky and I will put your 2 together from parts "in house" If you will agree to stay and watch them being assembled and agree to purchase the 2 mowers. Put your money where your mouth is! As far as my "Sales Posts" go, I pay good money to advertise on TBN and also help support a free forum for those that don't pay. Ken Sweet

Tx Jim, being you worked for a JD dealer you see only one avenue of how a dealer operates their parts department. Remember JD has next day parts & a typically JD dealers do not stock on-site parts in the numbers as other hay tool dealers. How do I know? I worked for EDCOR, A&I Products & Buy Smart. I have personally been in over 500 dealerships. I have also been involved with a dealership that has been #1 in USA sales for PZ(before Kuhn came to the USA), Lely & Vermeer.

Ken is telling the truth about his disc mower sales numbers. I can not verify his parts inventory but it is within reason. We have over $500,000 worth of hay tool wear parts. It just gets bigger & bigger every year. The average JD hay tool dealer sells 2-4 round hay balers a year, New Holland 4-8, Vermeer 10-20 a year. When it comes to hay tool sales numbers there are dealers that often sell 10 times the brand average. In 2004 we sold 98 new Vermeer round balers. In 38 years of being a Vermeer dealer we have sold over 70 new Vermeer balers a year 7 times and sold 50+ new balers a year 27 times. Customers often choose a brand because of the dealer parts support. When a farmer goes down in the field, he needs to get back ASAP. If a dealer has the parts in stock the customer goes right to work. We are open Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day because that is when people are off work and in the field.

If Ken was streching the truth, I would call him on it. I knew Ken Sweet when he sold Long tractors out of an open shed. We have different opinions on many things but Ken is telling you the truth on this, I can verify that.

If what you and Ken state is correct then I apologize. Granted I worked for a JD dealer from mid 60's to late 80's. Prices of parts have escalated a lot since then so an apology is all I can do.

I know that JD had their cutterheads made by Kuhn but I heard they were making their own now but that could be wrong.

As far as parts. A small one off dealer here said they have a million dollars in parts. Now I don't know how many fo those are NOS and I don't know if that is retail or what they paid but either way it's still a lot of cash.
