Thanks for the reply. I am glad to know that is is not just me that has these problems. I almost posted the question as an unregistered guest because I thought it seems stupid not to be able to do something that probably was so simply. But you guys help us 'freshmen' so well without making us feel stupid at all.

I had to cut the PTO on a fertilzer spreader and its really not that hard. Used a hack saw and only problem was hanging onto that greasy rascal without a vice, which I hadn't mounted in my new place yet. They come long for some of the smaller tractors because its a lot easier to cut them than to make them longer.

I have a 40" King Kutter that I have used for two seasons in rough terrain with my BX 1800. I ordered it with a slip clutch and it works fine.
