new hollands..love \'em, or hate \'em??

Hi! We have been thinking about New Holland, as a brand to buy. I cannot find much about them, as far as if there is a lot of trouble with them or not....so I was wondering if yall could relate your opinions to us? What kind of experiences have you had with them? Break down a lot? Good and strong? Please advise!!!! Thank you!!! JH /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

JH welcome to the TBN site. I might recommend that you ask the moderator to move your post to the NH operating forum and you will get a lot more responses to your question.

I came off of a 25 HP 4WD Bison Chinese tractor that I used for 5 years. I wanted/needed something larger than the 25 HP since I wanted to add a FEL, pallet forks, and a backhoe to do a bit more serious work. After doing a lot of shopping I decided on the New Holland and ended up with a 40 HP TC-40D with the implements mentioned above. It was delivered to me in late November and I have already put 100 hours on it. I am very satisfied with the tractor and am thrilled with my purchase. You may click on my signature link to see pictures of it if you like. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good luck!

While doing your search, watch for how many used New Hollands you see in the classifieds compared to the others. That will tell you alone that most New Holland owners are satisified. But you have to get up in the drivers seat to see what's comfortable for you. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I've had a NH skill loader (LS170) for almost 3 years, and I've been very happy with the machine.

Sheesh...I love mine. Easy to run. Easy to start even when it is cold.

My wife even likes running it.

Re: new hollands..love \'em, or hate \'em??

Like Mike said.. you rarely see a NH for sale.. even in our local Newspaper.. very rare.

I have a 1997 Nh 1920. A superb machine I'g got a couple hundred of my own hours on it, plus hundreds of the previous owners hours.

It is a discing and mowing machine. The newer line of Nh's the TC and TN series offer many changes from the 'older' NH line. Many are cosmetic, some are functional, and some are bells/whistles. And as with all.. some are cost cuts.

That said.. I'm happy with mine anyway..

Re: new hollands..love \'em, or hate \'em??

I shopped all three major brands and bought a NH last summer and it is my favorite tractor. I needed something in between garden tractor and my larger tractors. I had every intention of buying another Kubota as I have a B2910 already. My Kubota dealer is also my White and my Cub dealer and I've got both of those brands from him as well. I'm on a first name basis with the owner, but he just couldn't give me a Kubota that was priced properly with the features that compared to the NH that I ended up buying. After getting my NH, I went back to look at the Kubota I almost bought, and I walked away happy I ended up with the NH.

I also looked at Cub Cadet line.

I ruled out J.D. very quickly because the dealer was unresponsive, didn't care about me or my needs. I can find a lot of people who care if I spend my money in their shop. I can't even tell you if the J.D. tractors are good or not, I was so turned off by the people at the dealership I won't bother going back. And I own 2 pieces of small J.D. equipment. When they go bad I'll switch brands.

I ended up buying a NH TC24D and love it. The power to size ratio is great. I can take that tractor into places I would not dream of taking a larger machine, but it is very capable because it has a lot of power for the size of machine. Reliability has been perfect. Cold weather starting has been a breeze, even without a block heater. I've taken it places it shouldn't go and gotten back out (thanks to the differential lock).

There is a guy on this forum who had a lot of problems with his TC24D, but that seems to have been resolved. I've not read any other serious issues with any other sizes. It seems like most of the NH owners are in love with their machines.

Re: new hollands..love \'em, or hate \'em??

We have had our TC21D (FEL,Rotorycutter,Boxblade, finishmower, for just over 2 yrs and it has been great. Have had no problems with the tractor. Just fun fun fun. I was wanting the TC 29 but the wife also uses the tractor and the larger size of the 29 and its seat hight made her uncomfortabel. (Keep in mind she rides 4wheelers and has a 125yammaha 4stroke) So out doors anything is go with her. But the 21 suited our needs over all of cutting and halling and its size is great for small landsacpe areas around the house as the wife plants and the new place feels more and more like home.

Would I buy another one? u bet ya!!! The wife would like a bit of dirt track around the pasture and I hinted that things would go faster once we start, if the lil 21 had big brother /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif so who knows /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Regardless of which u choose, if its one of the big 3 and you get what u need, I think you'll be happy. Especially once u get it home and get some seat time.
Good luck in which ever u choose and happy tractoring.....

I actually considered the gas job that cub offered.. I thought that was neat.. kinda retro in a way.
