Re: new hollands..love \'em, or hate \'em??
I shopped all three major brands and bought a NH last summer and it is my favorite tractor. I needed something in between garden tractor and my larger tractors. I had every intention of buying another Kubota as I have a
B2910 already. My Kubota dealer is also my White and my Cub dealer and I've got both of those brands from him as well. I'm on a first name basis with the owner, but he just couldn't give me a Kubota that was priced properly with the features that compared to the NH that I ended up buying. After getting my NH, I went back to look at the Kubota I almost bought, and I walked away happy I ended up with the NH.
I also looked at Cub Cadet line.
I ruled out J.D. very quickly because the dealer was unresponsive, didn't care about me or my needs. I can find a lot of people who care if I spend my money in their shop. I can't even tell you if the J.D. tractors are good or not, I was so turned off by the people at the dealership I won't bother going back. And I own 2 pieces of small J.D. equipment. When they go bad I'll switch brands.
I ended up buying a NH TC24D and love it. The power to size ratio is great. I can take that tractor into places I would not dream of taking a larger machine, but it is very capable because it has a lot of power for the size of machine. Reliability has been perfect. Cold weather starting has been a breeze, even without a block heater. I've taken it places it shouldn't go and gotten back out (thanks to the differential lock).
There is a guy on this forum who had a lot of problems with his TC24D, but that seems to have been resolved. I've not read any other serious issues with any other sizes. It seems like most of the NH owners are in love with their machines.
