Time for another update. The interior is currently being painted. I have the yard in after 4 days of work (mixed among other things). A big thanks goes out to my JD 2720, my wife and kids, and my parents for helping spread straw. The 44'x40' shop is also under way. Pics below! :)

Nice!

I just went back and re-read you first post on April 11. You got a lot done, and done well, this summer.

That's a nice way to build a shop/garage building with the concrete wall. I assume you will stick frame on that? How high will your ceiling be?

Can't wait to see the progress on the shop!!!

This summer has gone by really fast, but things have progressed rather smoothly. Thankfully, we have great builders.

Yes, we will stick frame on top of the foundation on the shop. The left side (while facing it from the front) will have a 12' wide by 14' tall garage door for our fifth wheel. The other side will have 8' tall doors. That should be tall enough for a 3-series Deere with cab should I be able to afford one in the future, right? :)

I always get excited when I see big forms ready for concrete!!!! Can't wait to see more pics.

Definitely exciting...you know new things are coming!

I think 8' doors for a cab tractor is too low. It may work for a 3 Series JD, but it won't for the tractor & cab you really need for 48 acres.

Seriously, there are a lot of 40-50 hp tractors with a cab height of 98" to 110". I know this because my door opening is 102-1/2" and I wish it were another foot taller when looking at tractors. You would be much safer using 10' doors and they may even blend a little better visually with the tall RV door. Also think about being able to pull into the garage with a pickup hauling something tall or stacked tall--like a load of hay for your kids' 4-H project steers in a few years.

At least frame them out for 10 foot you can always bulkhead them down to eight if you choose to do so. Your cab may clear a 8 foot door but your rops won't without being folded or at least it will be close on many tractors. Add a chunk of mud on the tires or something in the threshold you could be hitting the bottom of your header. If possible go with the 10 foot doors not a big price difference I doubt you'll regret it.

Another vote for 10' doors. The ROPS on my kubota won't clear the 8' doors on my attached garage.

I'd go 10' high on doors. Even for my small Kubota L, 9' is needed to get my chipper in/out with 3-pt raised. My barn doors are 10' high.
