Well, while that might work, I'd recommend a black and white camera, instead of color. You will get a decent image, as long as the light source is not directed at the camera. There are also cameras that have infra- red emmitters around the lens, but they mostly only work up close, and require more power to run. It shouldn't take much to make this work, I think. You'll need 110v power source, (actually a good 12v battery might do it, with a solar panel to recharge it) any way, a source of power for the cable modem, and the camera is really all it should take. The camera has to have a web browser embedded to both run the pan, tilt, zoom controls and to upload images to the web, and of course you need a cable IPS account.........I need someone with more computer smarts to help me with this, but it's definitely doable......

I'm hoping to do that with a wireless connection from the camera to the router and modem, dsl in my case. The camera will be more than 300' from the access point, but when the time comes for me to set it up, I have a site plan ready to fax to a couple of wireless antenna outfits to get their recommendations. I know it can be done, the rest is just details. My plans are for the gates, but the idea of putting a camera on the house while under construction is realy intriguing. The DSL connection is at my daughter's house next door; the total of our two properties is 7-1/2 acres, and I plan to be able to access wireless anywhere on either property.

Even easier! My neighbors only have dial up, which is another way to do it, but you just get still images that way, no "movement" , wireless camera makes great sense!

Well, things have been a a standstill for a few weeks. My property is in a watershed area and, therefore, getting the permit for the septic system took some time. Had to obtain the services of a soil scientist and then file his report with the health department. Then it rained. And rained. And rained some more. Then the foundation man was backed up with his work.

Finally, he made to our place this week. As of last night, the footings have been dug and poured (sorry, I didn't get out to photograph that) and the forms are being put up for the basement walls. My guess is that they will finish the forms today. Don't know when the walls will be poured.

I did take a few pics and will try to post them tonight.

Just an FYI, it took me a long time to find my property in this fashion but you can find an aerial view online. The following address is to my property but you can use it to plug in your information. It's an image before we broke ground and they haven't re-mapped my area since. It'll be pretty neat the next time they map out our area again!

To find it I plugged in the nearest crossroads and just started looking for the pond we built next to.

Our county surveys all property by air every year for tax assesment purposes, it's been kinda fun looking at the changes in my land as I've cleared it, added a driveway etc.

OK, these pics didn't look too good on my screen. Let's see what they look like here. These were taken last evening as the sun was setting and they came out dark. I tried to make some adjustments with editing software. Sure wish I knew what I was doing.

The first photn shows what I call the barn. It is the space directly below tha garage. It will have a steel ceiling over which will be poured concrete. This is the future home for my tractor, mowers, etc.
