Thanks, rox. Good info. I think the next round of photos will be the wrap up on this thread. Thanks to you and the other good folks on TBN, its been a great learning experience for me. Although we are ready to make the move (mentally only - still much work to do around here to be ready physically) in some ways, I hate to see this discussion come to an end. Its been fun. Whenever we start the basement, I'll start a new discussion. It will be a while.

OK, I lied. This is not the beginning of the "wrap up" photos. I had to go out to the house this evening and took just a few of pictures.

The first is of the new brick steps to the front door and the new paint color of the front door. I'm not sure how the door color will show on your screen, but on mine it looks a little more burgandy than it really is. It really is more red than it looks in these pictures (to me, anyway).

A different angle of the door. An astute observer will also notice that a gray primer has been applied to the porch floor. I think the final color is supposed to be a darker gray. Could be wrong on this. I would be ok with this shade of gray. Looks good to me.

The next pics are of the mantle. I decided to go ahead and post these now because rox has been pestering the crap out of me to see the mantle (just kidding, rox). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A different angle. The mantle was made on-site by our trim guys. again, i think they did a pretty good job. Nothing fancy. Coordinates with the shelving and other trim very well. We are pleased.

Most things are now complete. The wood floor guy will come tomorrow for the final coat of sealer. Won't be able to go inside again until Tuesday. There are a few items left to be done, but the builder is going to try to get the CO on Tuesday or Wednesday. The cleaning crew will be working to get things spruced up. There is at least one light fixture that is still on back order. Landscapers are supposed to be there by the end of next week. We still need towel bars, toilet paper holders, etc.

As soon as we get the CO we'll start moving some stuff in. The main move is scheduled for the 1st week in April (1 week from now). We'll still have some workers coming in after we move in, I'm sure.

Anyway, that's the latest from here.

I'm really liken' the door color. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

You mentioned grass seed...so.....I rendered a grass seed look. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Actually, Long term, I like grass seed better than sod. Sod, you get more immediate gratification.....however, I have had better luck growing seed in the natural top soil and the grass thriving better, grown from seed.

I added a 'pointer' (in the picture) to draw attention to the rooster. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Don,

You're worryin' me! Now, step back from the computer and get back to your tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for your efforts and the rooster.

Hi bmac:

Your new home is beautiful...you must be glad to be finally wrapping up!

Your mantle and fireplace turned out really nice...great trim carpenters. Just a quick question regarding your plasma over the fireplace set- up, which is what we did in our home as well. I see you have what looks like a conduit in the lower right to run your component and/or S-video cables, but how are you getting power to the plasma?

Regards,

Dean
