Mornin Bmac,
A few weeks ago we were discussing your wash stand and that period of furniture. I mentioned Stickley inspired pieces at that time. I am including a picture of a reproduction Stickley bookcase I built a number of years ago, and since St Patricks Day is rapidly approaching, I thought I would include my irish wife, slightly height impaired, and the mother of our two grown sons /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
This piece was originally built in the 1890' s.

Thanks for sharing the photo. That's a great looking piece of furniture - you're a talented fella.

I called a quality woodworking place in Atlanta (MarkV suggested I call them) and spoke to them about our wash stand discussion. The person I spoke to recommended Spar Varnish for water protection (as others on this forum did). He thought Shellac would be too soft for our application. I'm still have to remove the plumbing fixtures before I add the varnish.

You're wife isn't short, the bookcase is just very tall. Seriously, she looks too young to have grown children (you can earn some points by telling her the same). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Scotty, I thought that, by definition, rednecks had to be from the South. I need to do a little more research on this to see if you are qualified to make that kind of admission. A redneck from Vermont? I'm not so sure about that./forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As far as the shelves go, After seeing your handy work, I would have been proud to have you build them.

This week has pretty much been limited to finishing the wood flooring. My original time frame for this project was off by quite a bit. They sanded Monday, Tuesday and some this morning. Here's a picture of thesanded floors. I'll show a few.
