New Horse

Nice pony and nice set up with the stables.

I wish the barn was ours. We moved him from the place where he was boarded (30min away) to the place where her last horse was (<10min away). The people are real nice and there is an indoor arena. He will be coming home to the little barn I built last year, in a few months (or less). We put up a lot of three rail wood fence with electric tape lining it. The two Jersey steers are in there now. I hope they all get along, cause I've heard some stories that weren't good.

My neighbor has his two horses in the same field with his beefers, at first they kept their distance but they get along fine now !

You just never know until you put them together. When I was a kid, I had a horse that got along just fine with our milk cow and a half grown calf. Then Dad let some folks put five other horses in that pasture (10 acres if I remember right). Four of them were just fine, but the one horse chased that half grown calf nearly to death and we had to get that horse out.

Bird, that is exactly what I've heard. She's real attached to those two cows and she doesn't want anything to happen to them. I'm hoping this horse's calm attitude will mean they can get along. Actually, I wonder if those two cows will do anything stupid and go after this horse. They're only 6 months old and one kick from the big guy could be serious. The neighbors dogs (the ones that have killed our birds) got in with the cows and left yelping and one was limping. The two boys seem a little territorial.
Hopefully Scotty's experience ends up being what we see.

Nice horse! Is he for riding or pulling? Once talked w/ a lady up in Canterbury who had a Percheron or Belgian (cant recall which) that her husband used for plowed contests and she rode on the dressage circuit.

Does he "fit" OK in the standard stalls or does a clydesdale need a larger space?

A standard stall should be ok. He's in a 10'x12' and that's what we have, as well. Our stall is a little taller than where he is currently, and he needs it.

Its funny to think about a horse that size doing dressage...but I guess it works out OK.

Yup, that breed isnt at all popular in New England. The Percherons and Belgians seem to be preferred.
