Made lots of progress. Wiring done except garage and porch lights, plumbing drains done, most supply lines done, insulation done except foyer and garage. Most of the gas piping is done as well.

Borrowed an old rigid electric threader but couldn’t get good threads. Had to use the manual threader, go slow and use lots of oil. I’m guessing the die is worn. Cost me some time messing around with it, but eventually got on with it. Have to finish the run to the eventual generator and the hot water heaters. All of this is in the basement, so won’t hold me back on getting drywall started. Putting in two heaters, one on each end of the house. Hoping this lowers wait time on hot water and ensures we don’t run out of hot water when everyone takes showers back to back.

Glad insulation is coming to an end, hate messing with the stuff.

Didn’t get any good pics of piping, but will over the next few days.

Everything is insulated except the foyer ceiling and a few wall cavities. Will get that done later today, hopefully.

Still have to build one closet, put a few interior headers/cripples in, and run a couple lines for phone/internet/cameras. Then ready for drywall.

Drywall material will be delivered Wednesday morning and drywall guys will start that afternoon or Thursday morning. Cant wait to see how things look with drywall up!

Garage is not ready, so they will come back and do that drywall when it is.

Make sure you have all your blocking for towel bars, toilet paper holder, closet bars, coat hooks, etc in before the drywall is started. Also take pictures with dimensions where they are located. Also, did you insulate around the bathrooms for sound deadening? Jon

Yep, wife has been working on clearing everything out. It’s a 2 man crew doing the drywall, so maybe it won’t be too crazy.

I started marking for blocking today, and will get it installed tomorrow and Monday. Undoubtedly, we will miss something or realize later that we should have added blocking in other places. Trying to think it through and get as much as possible. We are putting blocking for all cabinets as well.

Yes on insulating around the bathrooms. Actually, my wife has pretty much insulated all in interior walls, for sound proofing.. That will also will get finished up tomorrow.

Had to make a run to Home Depot for some lumber to finish headers and build the last closet in the foyer. Ended up taking the family out for a nice lunch since we haven’t done much together lately. Also did some grocery shopping in anticipation of the ice/snow storm heading this way on Monday. Trees are already ice covered and many without power still from the last storm early this last week. Want to be prepared for possible power loss, as it won’t take much for more tree branches to start falling on the power lines. Looking forward to having the whole home generator on the new house.

I did get most of the remaining headers/cripples in, and most of the needed nailers in the open foyer ceiling. Will finish that up first thing tomorrow.

I’ll get some updated pictures tomorrow as well.

Hope the upcoming storm does not delay you too much

Don't forget to block for TV mounts - that's an easy on to miss. Also if you know where you want a TV always nice to add a plug up high behind where the TV will be mounted.

I set pieces of 1/2" plywood flush with the front of the studs on both sides of every window opening for fastening curtain rods. Also did the entire wall over the mantle just in case. Sure made life easier when we did window treatments.
