new implement barn w/out electric. generator or 12v?

I'd go with 12v until its not enough. You can always do a battery swap exchange between the house battery and a vehicle, or another battery at the house on a trickle charger. Just take it with you. Presto chango. Get heat from a propane reddy heater. Even motion detector lights have 12v versions. If you have a windy area nearby, get a small wind turbine charger to maintain the batteries. Deep cycle recomended.

these were taken before it was painted etc. So far the generator is working great. I leave it outside hooked up and leave the lights on. If I need lights one pull and I have em. I have not needed lights too much though. If I ever feel the need I will get power run out but I doubt it. However on the 10 year plan elec with a power garage door opener would be pretty slick. I have decided against heat unless I put a temporary propane heater out there. I don't understand how dangerous that is health wise and I have 2 heaters I am having installed in my garage.

My favorite part is the lean to. With the QA I can switch between both buckets and forks with no hassle at all and everything stays covered up. The inside of the barn is big enough to drop the backhoe and back up to the rake or blade etc where they sit. I am waiting for a bxpanded dolly to be available for the BH65. When that comes out I will be set for space.
My wife's favorite part is that the 1" layer of dirt and dust that covered everything is now out of the garage.

I would forget about electricity. When I bought my land it had a hunting cabin on it and the lighting was propane, they work very well. They can sit for as long as you want and never go bad. You can use the propane to heat and light the barn.

You could wire the barn for 110v electricity and use an inverter on a battery for now to power it. You can buy an inverter pretty cheaply and use compact fluorescent bulbs in the sockets. Later when you run power to the barn, it will be all wired to go.

To keep the battery charged you could use something like this. 5 Watt Solar Battery Charger

These go on sale for $25 to $29 all the time.

We will see if we need power and if there is a better way to spend the money. I am very happy with how it turned out.

That 5w panel is barely enough to keep a charged battery topped off, it will not recharge a drained battery in any effective way.

I think it all depends on how much he uses the battery. If he only uses the lights briefly and allows the solar charger to charge continuously, he may find that he only needs to charge the battery from a 110v source occasionally.

In any case, better than just draining the battery or allowing it to self discharge from sitting.

Absolutely but if he drains them down at all this unit would not be able to get them back up quickly enough to avoid sulfating the battery.

In any case, as I posted before, I think any solar is out based on the trees and shading.

OK, if no sun, solar is out, but I still think that using a deep cycle battery, inverter and CFBs or LED lights would be a reasonable plan. I'd wire it so the inverter was not powered until you flipped the switch.
