I'm glad that someone started a topic on the new JD 3000 and 4000 series tractors that will be released shortly. I do not currently own a tractor, but I am in the market to purchase one in the next 1-2 months. I really like the new option for a geared transmission with the PowerReverse that is offered for the 3000R's and 4000 series. John Deere did not offer that on the lower hp tractors on the previous lineup. Only the Hydrostatic transmission was available for those....

I do wish that all models had the quick attach loader system (something like Kubota has). From what I've read, you can only get a quick attach loader with the "R" models - not available on the "M" models. I've been eyeballing the 4044M model, but still in the decision making mode.

If anyone has any suggestions on what I need to look out for on the new models, please share. I still haven't ruled out a Kubota (even though I've wanted a John Deere green tractor since I was a kid....) Kubota does offer some nice standard features that you have to pay dearly for on the JD.

Thanks for everyone's input on this topic so far. Thought I was the only one wondering about the new lineup and availability of the new models until I ran across this tread.
If I were you I'd go to one of these Drive Green Events 2014 Drive Green JohnDeere.com to get questions answered on the new John Deere CUT lineup. Deere usually has some very good incentive offers going which can help quite a bit with cash back, attachments and/or financing. In addition, most John Deere Sales will deal and discount in excess of 15% off msrp.

Most do not go over 15%. 10-15% is more typical. One of the dealers I have dealt with does 0% by inflating the retail price, adding dealer charges, then discounting back to just below MSRP.

Speaking of my experience and what others have posted here, especially for the 3X20 and 4X20 series tractors over the past 8 years. I personally have gotten around 17-18% off MSRP on the 4 JD tractors I purchased during the past 8 years. The Deere dealers have been a lot more aggressive selling here in recent years than say 15 plus years ago. In my experiences, these discounts are not automatic and only come with bargaining. The increased number of Orange dealerships in 50 mile radius likely has a lot to do with it plus we seem to have a fair amount of competition even between the JD dealers.

I think the MSRPs are set 18% high to begin with so that every buyer can think he got a good deal. Just human nature to want to get the best of the other guy so they don't fight it. Of course if you come in in a hurry with pockets overflowing in cash and don't mind paying full list if you can have it today they will perk right up and let you have your way.

This is possible especially on 3x20 and 4x20 tractors. On the other hand, artificially high prices could hurt business by keeping some buyers away.

I've never had much luck "squeezing" the Orange guys.

Could be that the average Orange buyer is a newbee that just bought his first large acreage and looks at the tractor as a status symbol as much as he does a useful tool. A very different mind set from someone trying to make a living off a hundred head of cattle.

I went to my local Deere dealer today to get a price on the new 4044M tractor (geared, with loader). MSRP on that is $32k, I was quoted $27k. That is around 15% off (give or take a few hundred on each price). I was told that this particular model was not available for order yet.

I also called a few dealers in my part of the state that were listed for the dealer event advertised on John Deere's website. Doesn't sound like there is much to that. The only tractors that will be at those events are the tractors on the dealer's lot at the time. No luck seeing the new 4 series at a dealer event. For some reason I was under the impression that a sample of the new models would be at these events so that the general public can check them out first hand.
I will have to wait around to see if a dealer orders one for inventory when it's available just to take a look at the new model. If I do decide on purchasing a 4044M, I will definitely want to see it before ordering. That is too much cash to spend on something I have never seen.

Anyone else have input, test drove, or even own a new 4 series tractor (M or R model)? If so, please share.

Had similar experience yesterday at one of the local Drive Green Events. I received a post card about the event besides the email. Have to say it was a big let down. Spoke to the sales manager briefly and he said they haven't received any 3 or 4 series yet. Heard or read somewhere the John Deere online build site was available but didn't try it yet and shipments were to start end of May. Seems the roll out may not be going according to plan.

One big plus to the new 3R and 4R machines is the new backhoes.

The new backhoes are incredibly easy to install and remove, with much better valving too.

For me, a backhoe is a must when I finally do buy my machine. I will likely take the plunge next year and get a 3R with the emissions, the benefits of the new backhoe are just too good to ignore.

I saw an add for the 4066 and called my dealer to ask when they would have some and they told me they are on indefinite hold due to a problem with the front axle and there are none available and none shipping
