The chains are a very simple solution. I use two sections of chain--each about 18 inches long. I replaced the top bolt on the quick hitch--the one that attaches the top of the quick hitch to the top 3 point link--with a longer bolt (hardened, of couse) so that I could attach a chain to each end of the bolt. That puts a section of chain on each side of the upper connector of the quick hitch. The chains attach in the same way that the two pieces of flat steel do on the commercial linkage.

I agree that the liklihood of a shredder or mower flipping up against the ROPS is not very great--especially when an operator is going over an area that has been mowed before and knows the locations of any hazards. I've had the finish mower jump up a couple of times when I was mowing an area for the first time and hit hidden stumps. I had my shredder jump up once when it hit a big rock hidden in weeds. I try to walk an area before I cut it, but I just don't seem to be able spot everything.

My mower and shredder are small--48 inch wide ones--and their relatively light weight probably allows them to jump around more readily than larger implements. All I know is that it sure gets the adrenalin moving when there's a kaboom and the back of the implement jumps up.

I did not receive a book with the Imatch I have on my 4110. The dealer showed me how to adjust/use it. I have to admit the first time or two I used it sure didn't go as fast as the dealer went. I'm getting better at it and I sure do like it.
