They only have the factory in NC and one in Nebraska, IIRC. There are a few places that claim to be 'dealers' but I've found out all they were doing was buying the trailers, marking up the price and reselling them. I think they will ship all over the country though. Not sure on their shipping prices but I'd guess they'd be pretty reasonable to be able to do business that way.

I'm considering a Kaufman trailer. I'm torn between the equipment trailer, or the utility trailer with slide out ramps.

I'd be using this trailer with a Ford 4610SU and a Ford 1620 4WD HST.

I like the slide out ramp idea as I'd prefer not to have those clunky cleated rams in the air all the time.

How have those ramps worked out for you?

I have another brand of trailer but would not consider anything but slide in ramps. I like them out of the way when not in use.

Yes, I am interested in them primarily for that reason, but obviously they are not as stout as the utility trailer ramps.

I want to make sure I don't bend them with my 4610 or my brothers 3400 to the point they no longer slide in like they are supposed to.

I know the trailer is a 7000 GVW, but that does not mean the Kaufman ramps will not bend under a heavy tractor loading.

My trailer is 7K and I have hauled my 5,600# tractor for 9 years now and every vehicle imaginable from a Cobalt to a Silverado.

My ramps have not bent one bit.

The ramps are 2 x 2 x 1/4 angle with sheet metal on top? Or similar?

Mine are ladder type. 5' long and made of 2x2x1/4" material with the rungs 10" apart. The have the rung angle iron in the "V" up fashion for good traction. No sheet metal. I would think that would be slick if wet with water, oil, snow, ect.

Honestly there are some things I like about them, some I don't. When I'm using the trailer for hauling building materials, hay, and other misc. stuff they are great. It is nice not having the ramps in the way all the time and I imagine with less wind resistance it makes for slightly better fuel economy.

However, for loading and unload equipment a lot they can get tiresome. They are fairly low to the ground so you really have to bend over to slide them in and out. Also once out you must then close the little doors again to keep them from interfering with the ramps during loading. If you were only hauling a piece of equipment a few times a month it wouldn't be an issue. Sometimes I load and unload equipment several times a day though.

As for the weight rating, they should be able to handle a ~6000lb piece of equipment, since that is about the cargo capacity of the trailer. The heaviest thing I've had on it was my F-150 trail rig which weighs about 5000lbs and the ramps are still good and straight.
