A friend of mine came by the house to borrow my trailer. He was looking over my New Holland and when I told him I was contemplating selling for a larger tractor, he had interest. I told him I was looking for something larger and one of the choices would certainly be a new Kioti. The US headquarters is just a few miles from the house and I have heard very few complaints.

But he said when he went and spoke with the closest dealer, they told him Kioti requires all your service be done by a certified Kioti dealership up until you reach something like 500 hours or so. Oil changes or whatever, you have to go to the Kioti dealership to maintain your warranty. No "doing it yourself".

Is this true or is this a dealership risking a sale in order to gain a few dollars of service work?

That is a myth, Kioti does not require "dealer service" to maintain the warranty.

It's against the law so totally false. They can "suggest'' you get your services done there and work a bit harder and faster to get you in and out for warranty work if you get your service done there, but cannot deny.
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which is enforced by the FTC, makes it illegal for manufacturers or dealers to claim that your warranty is void or to deny coverage under your warranty simply because someone other than the dealer did the work. The manufacturer or dealer can, however, require consumers to use select repair facilities if the repair services are provided to consumers free of charge under the warranty.

That said, there may be certain situations where a repair may not be covered. For example, if you or your mechanic replaced a belt improperly and your engine is damaged as a result, your manufacturer or dealer may deny responsibility for fixing the engine under the warranty. However, according to the FTC, the manufacturer or dealer must be able to demonstrate that it was the improper belt replacement rather than some other defect that caused the damage to your engine.

Here is one to think about though. On my Mitsubishi the owners manual says replace timing belt at 100k.. The powertrain warranty runs to 100k. The dealer service schedule says replace timing belt at 65k. I was very confused since manual says 100k and warranty was to 100k. Talked to dealer and they said the belt is ONLY covered to 65k and if it breaks after that it is ONLY WARRANTIED to 100k if they determine it broke from a defect. If it broke from ''naturally wearing'' it would not be covered. So essentially it was up to them to decide. So they stated the belts useful life was 100k in the owners manual and that is the change interval but . If it wears out early that's not warranty, just wear and tear. So it's supposed to be changed at 100k, but really only 65k and its up to them to decide. Sad thing is I called Mitsubishi and they said the same thing. Its up to the dealer to decide if was wear and tear \ abuse or defective. If they say wear and tear your out of luck.

What Clint S says ++. I do all the normal service on my Kubota that I purchased new in 2009. I simply kept the receipts for all the oil, filters, etc, etc. I had one warrantee service claim and, of course, because I was so very fanatical about keeping all this paperwork - - they never did ask to see it.

If you do decide on a new and bigger Kioti - go to that "closest dealer" and ask them about service. If they still are saying - "you must have service done by them" - find a different Kioti dealer. I wouldn't even begin a discussion of this with them - you simply DO NOT want to have to deal with ANY dealership that pushes this idea - especially if you should ever need warrantee work.

What oosik said. I am just to the 50 hr service on my CK2610HST and my dealer told me to do the same thing.

I do all my own service work on my NX, had to have a few issues fixed under warranty. The last issue fixed was new injectors, done by a dealer I didn’t even purchase the tractor from, never one question asked about service history.

I can see using the Kioti dealer for the fist 50 hour maintenance but after that who cares who does it. I also think that if you service it yourself or someone else keep the receipt proving that the liquids and filters where changed in case of a warranty issue. It works like that for car warranty.
