Picked it up today. Third valve on the FEL (with quick attach) will be very handy for a 4 in 1 bucket or grapple in the future. The first job was to move an old station wagon out of a low area in case of flooding. I can't wait until my T-6 Harley Rake gets here to start making some money.

Wow, that is some bright orange machine :)

Looks great, I'm betting you have a ton of chores lined up for it. Enjoy!

Great pictures, thanks for sharing.

Beautiful!

Did you pull the station wagon, or just pick it up in the loader?!!

I have a heck of a list of questions for you...

pricing? (detailed breakdown?) Did you look at any other units? (like 3940 or 4740?)

How do you like the loader? How high does it have to be to curl the bucket to true level - possibly on the ground??

When (and what) 4n1 bucket will you get? Would one of those suffice as the only bucket?

Can you give a review on doing serious earthwork with that baby (at some point)? How do you like the turf tires? Does the stall control take away from the ability to dig into virgin ground?

Sorry for the long list, but I am REALLY interested in that tractor set-up. Just for the record, I actually held back a little...

Picked up the back to get it angled to where I wanted to move it. Went to the front, picked it up and pushed.

L4240HST $21,958.65
LA854 with uax valve and quick attach $5540
$60 filing fee for loan
$742.47 insurance through Kubota
0% for 3 years

Looked at JD 4120 (lots of plastic and lots of electrical switches exposed to the elements) and NH 45DA (too much money)

How do you like the loader? How high does it have to be to curl the bucket to true level - possibly on the ground??

Very strong. Have not really tested it yet though. Not quite sure what you are asking for the second part.

Not really sure. Kubota does not offer a 4-in-1 as of yet. I have access to a Construction Attachments 4-in-1 on a new Holland skid steer now. A 4-in-1 would work as an only bucket, but they are heavier than a standard so amount of material would diminish a little.

Can you give a review on doing serious earthwork with that baby (at some point)? How do you like the turf tires? Does the stall control take away from the ability to dig into virgin ground?

For earthwork, with the Harley rake it will be awesome. The extra weight on the back of the machine will mean I can fill the loader with heavy material. I am not sure if you've used a Harly before, but they are a GREAT attachment. The turf tires are great for me (I'm a landscaper) because I can go on properties with existing lawns and not worry about doing damage. I have not encountered the stall control being a problem, and I believe it is something that I can turn on or off if I choose.

Ask away. I'll try to answer anytihing I can.

Thanks Rich.

Did the $22K include the loader and the turf tires? In research, I thought I saw you mention this for $25,700 - did you talk them down that much?

on the loader, I have read that with some loaders (eg: the LA703 on the L4400) once you scoop at (or below) ground level, the bucket can't curl to true level position. Even if you curl it back all the way, it won't be level. It can only get to level once you raise it a few feet off the ground. Apparently, this limits how full the bucket can be due to spillage. I don't know if this is a substantial limitation, and I don't know how to tell which loaders can or can't curl to level at the ground. May not be an issue at all with the LA854.

I have a lot of earthwork to do - some shallow, some deep. I'll check into that harley - it sounds great. I may have to rent one though, and haven't found one for rent yet. I can rent a tiller. As a landscaper, what's the best way to level earth? I guess the harley is? How good is a box scraper, or tiller??

I am interested in more experience with the turf tires. I am under the impression that (if I buy them) the traction will suffer when I try to dig. I'd like their gentler ride on my lawn though. I was planning to go industrial as a compromise between turf and Ag.

22 was tractor on tires according to a sheet I had in hand a little while ago. I think the 25,700 was basic tractor and loader (reg tires and no third function). I think what you are asking is how low below the tires can I get a full scoop. That answer is about 5" if I remember correctly from the Kubota specs. Even without getting the bucket back to total level, it would still hold a lot of material. As to preparing a place for seed or sod, the Harley is by far the best thing going in my mind. It will grade, level, remove rocks, and leave a nice planting bed all in one implement. Tiller and box scraper are decent, but perfection is a Harley for amount of worked saved in preparing a seed bed. The turf tires will not have as much traction, but for what I plan on using the machine for, they are perfect. No ground damage and I can still dig into a pile if needed. Where are you located?

SE Indiana.

Does that Harley ride loose? Did you get/need any additional Rear Remotes on that?

I had a L3830 with a Pro 8 Harley rake. The hydrostatic works so well with the Harley. I needed one remote for the Harley to do angle, scarifiers and roller lift. The one remote attached to a electrical solenoid hydraulic valve on the Harley.

It is definatly going to be nice to have some weight on the back of the tractor to see what the loader can do.

yeah, I hear you. I have a B7800 and yesterday I tried pushing about 3 feet of heavy wet snow that had fallen off my garage roof. I should have left my rear tire chains on because even in 4WD with the diff locked the tires just spun in that slippery goop. I need to make/buy a heavy ballast box for the back of my tractor because even with the tires filled (400 lbs) I don't think I can utliize the 30HP my B7800 has if I can't get traction. I think I understand why heavy tractors are better for some applications.

In a matter of days I should have about 830 lbs (Harley T-6) hanging on the 3 point hitch. That should suit me fine.

I had wondered what a Harley rake was so after I saw your post I read up on them. It seems they are amazing implements - very flexible but expensive. Real money makers for guys like you in the landscape business. Business must be good with all the new $ tool.
