What I didnt know and wished I did is the ball diameter is the same for Cat 1 or 2 balls the the pin diameter is different. So the top link is a Cat 2 hook end so I ordered Cat 2 balls. Nearly all my attachments are Cat 1. So I had to put sleeves in each of the top link balls to reduce from Cat 2 to Cat 1. I bought a couple of Cat 1 toplink ballks from TSP and Rural King and they work fine. Should have just got Cat 1 balls to begin with but didnt know.

Also for the 3 pt hook ends if I had to do it again I would just buy the hook ends not this kit. I didnt any of the “extras” from the kit other than the extra balls it comes with. To be honest not sure what some of its for because you dont get any instructions.

The hook ends themselves were out of stock at the time so I had to get the kit.

Also, wanted to note, may have already, but Brians prices for these were quite a bit less than Agristoreusa.. and he can do the cutting and welding professionally.

Ive been fabricating most my life but getting the cut angle right and then lining it all up to weld wasnt the easiest thing in the world and you want to get that angle right. Mine arent exact but close enough that I havent had any problems and they work great.

One thing to consider is the size of the hook.

If your tractor is Cat 1 and you only use Cat 1 implements, then get the Cat 1 Hooks. If you get the Cat 2/1 hooks, the hook can be too big to fit on some Cat 1 implements.

For instance, Cat 1 hook uses a 44 mm Ball with a 7/8" hole. You get any 44 mm balls to work with Cat 2 implements. I did it but machined my own balls and just made the hole bigger.

The Cat 2 hook uses a 56 mm ball with a 1 1/8" but you can also buy a 56 mm ball with a 7/8" hole or even a ball with both hole dimensions. The catch with using the Cat 2/1 hook on Cat 1 tractors is that the hook is huge versus the Cat 1 one.

Useful info. Thx. My lower links are Cat 1 7/8" and all the implements have 7/8" pins.

All great info. The only Cat 1 implement I have issue with is an old Ford disc from the 1950s and it rubs a little but still works. I agree though that if you have clearance issues the smaller hooks would be useful. Not sure if the 44mm balls but the ones for the Cat2/1 are readily available at Tractor Supply and Rural King which is a big plus for me.
