Tractor
kubota BX 2230
Bought a BX2230 for a toy and parents...now recently a proud owner of 8 acres. Plan on using it to farm about 3 acres. Any suggestions on disk size and plow size (1 or 2 bottom)? Also anyone using a sickle bar on this particular tractor? thanks

I may be interested in this too for my B3030.

Anyone has one for B3030, would like to know type brand they got, or about how much they cost.
hope you did not mind me posting this here rather than creating new post.

Welcome to the site and congrats on your new toy---err tractor!

I have the 2200 (predecessor of 2230). You will love that machine. 8 Acres should give you a lot of work space!

A couple of cautions first. The underside of the bota is very wide open to damage from limbs kicking up with the mower off. Do a search of this site for "BX skid plate" and you will find pics of homemade ones, plus most recently, some being sold. When you do dirt work, you will want the MMM off.

I have never been a fan of 1 bottom plows on small tractors. If you look at the ground clearance of a BX, the right wheel "should" run in the furrow of the previous round. The wheel width is pretty wide (48") to track well with a 16-18" plow. Aside from packing the fresh plowed dirt down, I think you would lose traction. Someone wiser'n me might enlighten me..........

I don't have a disc, but would consider it if I had more acreage. I have a tiller and it can't be beat for ground prep. I would not want to take my tiller into root laden or stone laden soil without ripping it first really well to make sure it was fairly debris free.

Have fun, post pictures!

Your 22HP BX2230 is nearly the same size as my 21HP B7510HST. The usual recommendation is that 48"-wide implements pretty much max out the capability of these small CUTS, especially for implements that engage the ground like tillers, scrapers, box blades, etc. I have a used Yanmar RS1200 rototiller (48" wide) that I'm planning to use to landscape about 3/4 acre of my 10-acre parcel.

Don't know about plows. I bought the KK middle buster/subsoiler from TSC ($135) that I'll use to prepare the ground before hitting it with the rototiller.

Waiting for the rain to stop around the North Valley so I can get going on the landscaping.

You can tell that I'm a newbie. Is the thought of hitting the ground with a subsoiler first intended to just be easier on the tiller or is this viewed as a necessity? I have a Kubota GL3830 with a not yet used (by me) "commercial duty" 6' Woods GHT72 tiller with 6 blades. Ground will be hard packed clay at the onset.
