Hi,

I saw a new Stihl MS 241, at a Runnings in Hinsdale, NH. SInce they were discontinued years ago, they are hard to come by.

Hope this helps someone.

My MS241 is one of my favorite saws. I had to beg the dealer to order it for me. They were steering people towards the 261.

I see them listed when i googled it but it kind of looked like over seas. Looks like a smaller version of a 261. Looks like the 241 weighs less than 10 pounds. The brochure I was looking at even had a version with a heated carb and handles.

Stihl used to sell them in the US. But the list price was only $20-40 less than a 261, and Americans being Americans, most everyone went for the bigger engine.
The 241 is light but it still cuts pretty fast for a saw it's size because it's using a narrow chain. I use it for mostly for limbing trees, sometimes for smaller firewood.

Actual weight PHO dry. 241 and Type 2 261 so close. Give me a 261 being 4 ounces difference. Not the earlier type1 that weighed more.

The difference is a half pound once they're full of fuel and oil.

For me the 241 fit better in the lineup between other saws I already had. A 261 would have been too close to the 362. If I'd planned from the start or was doing it now I might have ended up with a 261 and one fewer saws.

I own a 261 and really like it, I agree the weight difference is small.

I would bet the weight you are feeling ready to use is more of the picco chain and bar set up compared to the 325 set ups.
IMO just put a picco on the 261. I did that to a 026. Feels even lighter if you pay attention to ounces.

Mix wise just under 4 fluid ounces at 3.8 of fuel more held by 261.
Bar oil just a half fluid ounce .5 difference by stihl specs.
