New M Series

We're going to have two of the new M40 series tractors at the Stock Show in Ft. Worth, Texas. One will be used to maintain arenas and one is going to be in our booth. M9540 and M8540 are the two models we have. The Stock Show runs 1/13/06 to 2/5/06. Lewis

I checked that hood today. Its probably going to be somewhat floppy when its up - however not as bad as the one at the farm show. That one had a few pins removed from the hindge where you take the hood off for major service. The shake is minor, not as good as the NH flip up hood - but better than Deere's.

You are correct, New Holland has the best tilt-up hood. Deere's 5X25s I am not familiar with.

Any idea what a 50 HP DT unit with an FEL will run?

I figured a M5040DT, std AG tires, LA1153 loader, skid steer coupler, M1822 valve, M1811 72" SS bucket and M1871 grill guard for $29,818.00 MSRP. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. My budget really is around 25K tops. I was looking at the L4400, but I really want/need a full size ag/utility tractor. I guess I really don't need DT, but who hasn't gotten a tractor stuck at some point in their life? Who knows if I will get DT, it sure is nice to have though.

I will be cutting, discing, planting about 12 acres twice a year. Maybe an additional 15 acres at times on another piece of property. Plus some road and creek crossing maintenance.

I want 6 foot implements.

Am I correct in thinkingthe L4400 is too small for my intended uses?

See if you can find a M4900 that hasn't been sold yet. Might be just what you need.

The MX5000 should fit the bill nicly. I'd suspect the selling price of the New 50hp M-Series won't be too far off 25k.

Well I have a distant cousin by marriage that owns a Kubota dealership an hour from my house. I am going to try to plan a trip up there with a mutual family member whom we are both close to. Should be interesting.

I predict a new tractor within 6 weeks. I will keep everyone informed.
