stick to the valve stem? Meaning it broke? How big a deal/expensive was it to fix the flat?

Nice looking machine. Note to self; must get a Kubota M40 4wd with loader and grapple :)

It is possible to do it yourself at least on the fronts. A few tire tools is all you need. You can do rears too but I consider that a two man job. Even on the fronts it can be tricky to get the bead to seat if you had to remove the whole tire to replace the whole valve stem from the inside. On at least one occasion I had to use cargo straps around the tire to get the bead to seat.

On another occasion I could not get the new valve stem to seat properly. It had a slow leak around the edge. Finally gave up and took it to a tire store. When I asked them if they could fix a tractor tire he looked at me funny and told me just to buy a new one at Lowes or Walmart.....he thought I meant lawn tractor. They fixed it for $20.

Did not break it off, they think I ripped the tub. Figures!

Not sure what it is going to cost yet. The guy stayed late so I could drop off the tractor. Did not get there until almost 6pm and they close at 5pm. I am just happy I have a trailer that can haul that beast.

You took the whole tractor in? Must have been a rear. I just threw my front tire in the pickup and took it to the tire store.

If it was a rear, it must not be fluid loaded.

Some folks weld little metal stubs in front and behind the valve stem to protect them. Probably not a bad idea for those of us who use our machines like dozers. But, they can make checking air pressure and filling the tires a real pain.

Sorry....Yes it was a rear, but it was full of water. Still leaked all out and the tire went flat.

Tire place will fill it back up again.

I am actually looking to tack weld really lightly metal pipe over the stem. Short enough that the valve stem sticks out a littlem but the pipe will keep it from getting bent over all the way and tearing. Now I need to find someone to do that since I don't have a welder.

Are those 14.9x28 on the rear or 16.9x28. I see you can now get either on the 5040 and 6040, according to Kubota build your own.

Will need to double check, but I think I got the 14.9x28.

Also, how much did the grapple set you back? Do you know how much it (grapple) weighs? Did you order the 3rd valve for the loader or add it? Thanks
