After a fair amount of back and forth, today I finally bit the bullet and signed the deal for a new Kubota M7040.

Here is the whole package:

Tractor:
M7040 with cab and hydraulic shuttle, rear wiper, rear and side defrost.
AM FM CD, 2 rear remotes, rear cast wheels, air seat
Kubota M20 loader (made for Kubota Canada by ALO/Quickie and branded as Kubota) - very stout looking loader. 72" bucket
Ag tires: Front radials, rear bias ply
Chain hooks welded on to bucket.

LandPride RCR1872 rotary cutter with slip clutch and optional chain guards in the front, laminated tire.

Meteor 75" pull type snowblower with hydraulic chute rotator

Euro style 2 prong bale spear 39" tines, heavy duty pallet forks 48"

The prices I got I thought were very good. They are 91.5% of prices from the US website. I expect if I was in the right market in the USA I could get 85% so I paid about $2500 more than I would have buying south. If figure that is a fair price difference given the smaller market and likely higher cost of doing business here.

On all the implements the prices were better than what others quoted me. Rotary cutter was $1995 + $175 for chain guards. Pull type Meteor was $3690 (vs $3000 for a push type of the same size).

I am trading in:
- L3400 HST with ~300 hours, with canopy, worklights and loader and a couple other gizmos like telescopic side 3PT links.
- Woods BB60 rotary cutter
- Meteor 68" push type blower with hyd chute
- 2 prong hay spear and 48" pallet fork - SSQA type.

I never had to haggle about trade in prices or any other prices. I thought they were very very fair.

I spent considerable time on the machines I wanted to try out and there was never any pressure. The dealer is large for here - goes through a lot of tractors quite quickly it seems. It is a family run business however and I dealt with the owner. He is a very straight up guy - pleasure to deal with. He's not the type of guy who is going to be immediately answering questions by email but if you call him and go to visit him personally, that is his kind of thing.

Finding the right dealer helped me narrow the choice of brands as well. I'm comfortable with Kubota's products. In the past I have found that their Canadian support leaves something be desired but the tractors are great and having a good dealer on your side is very valuable no matter the brand.

I planned not to load the tires as they only load with Calcium and I plan to load with something else or go with wheel weights.

I looked seriously at the NH 4030 which I liked very much as well. Things fit for me nicer with the Kubota for some reason and the great dealer made a difference too.

Thank you for all the help you guys have given me in the course of this decision. TripleR, Builder to name a few including others that are familiar with the models I was considering. Your thoughts have all been very worthwhile and your opinions have been valued.

I should point out that my dealer is Ross Doble Inc in Sunderland. I've been dealing with Larry Doble the owner. They have been in business forever. I would STRONGLY recommend them based on my experience so far. Delivery is set for the second week of October as I am away on a business trip for the next two weeks. Hope to come home to my brand new tractor! Lets hope things are as smooth with the delivery as they have been with the sale.

It was my pleasure to help. You're right-TripleR is also a big help on the forums. LoneCowboy, FWJ, SLHawkins & Jenkinsph also set great examples of how to help.
If others can all try to follow thier lead and keep positive, this site could improve dramatically.

Awesome! I think you made a great choice especially if you start farming that 100 acres!

Yes all these guys and others have helped me with some stuff or the other in the past. I've come a long way from being a city boy that never turned a wrench to doing all kinds of maintenance on my own with the help of kind people on this forum.

I guess I better start looking for that 100 acres! I might be able rent another 7 acres or so from an adjoining neighbour who his not farming his hay field any more - to use as pasture for additional stock.

I don't have the machine yet. It is unfortunately sitting on my dealer's lot while I am away for two weeks on a business trip. Can't wait to start playing with it!
