New Makita Toys I bought today

I picked both of these up today from a gentleman that built his own post and beam house. I need these for my own barn/house project. Both were bought new and never used commercially. I paid $400.00 for the pair. The blade on the saw cost $181.00 cod. The saw is a 16 5/16" diameter blade. The Planer is a 6 1/8" cut. I can't wait to start using them on some beams and especially the planer for making new floor joists for the other side of my barn. What a day Father's Day has been for me. I found both of these in the local wantadvertiser this morning at 1am while the dog was out taking a midnight wizz.

Both excellent tools. Watch out for the circular saw, it's got a bit of a kick and is actually hard to turn because of the gyroscopic effect. That's a very dangerous saw, so be careful. You made a good buy. That planer is nice to use. I've used both on timber framing projects.

I got to use these tools yesterday for the first time. That saw does do wierd things once you go to put it down. It tries to turn itself around as it is winding down. That is really wierd. Can that saw cut. I cut a 8"x8" and it came out perfect. I also ripped that same beam 43". The planer works even better than I expected. You can take a mean cut with it.
