Tractor
J Deere/1025R
Hi, I'm a new member. I will be replacing my Sears Garden Tractor with Snow Blower, which I've used for the last 15 years. The leading contender is a J Deere 1025r with snow blower attachment, a significant step up. I'm an old guy and still have fond memories of my grandfather's Allis Chalmers, back on the farm in the 1950's. That old tractor seemed to go for ever. Looking forward to learning from you folks.

To the TBN forum "Old Guy"... I mean Larry. You have come to the right place to get answers as there are a lot of very knowledgeable people on this site.

So, How long have you been is Alaska? How much land are you working or you mainly getting the tractor for snow removal?

I was stationed up there from 84-88 and we lived in Eagle River. Went through Palmer many times in those 4 years.

Welcome to TBN and the forum - Larry. I lived in Alaska from 1960 until 1982. Had a cabin out south of Big Lake on the Burma Road. Got all our veggies from many of the farmers up in the valley every year. Good times.........

Thanks for the welcome, guys. This will be my 29th winter in Alaska. Originally from Virginia. I only have 2 acres: either woods or pavement, so mainly interested in snow removal. I was originally thinking of the Deere 700 series, but the salesperson showed me the 1025 tractor. Yeah, a tractor is what I need! Seemed like a big step up to me. Now, I just need to convince my better half that it's something we can't live without!

Explain to her that it will extend your life by doing all the work for you. At the least, you will know if she really wants you to be around for the long haul.

That should work for you.

Snow removal for me is not a problem in Central Texas.

I'd look into a cab in Alaska.
