Tractor
none
Hello,
I recently moved from New England to SC, have a land parcel 70-90 acres, most has been used for haying for years. I want to understand my tractor needs better and where I might look to buy. I'm guessing 50hp 4wd utility tractor w front bucket at a minimum, buying new is not an option so a used tractor is what Im looking for. I won't get into haying now but may want to fertilize, seed and treat the property. If more information is needed please ask.
Best,
Will

:welcome:
To TBN Will. Unless you just happen to find a great bargain, a lot of manufactures run 5 and 6 year 0% financing now.

Welcome. I live in upstate SC as well. Check craigslist. There's a dealer in walhalla who regularly lists tractors, mainly used Fords. Also a dealer in Easley who sells used Kubotas that are nice. They both are on Craigslist frequently.

Welcome from Vermont. Yes the Zero percent interest is still going on and that has let me start out with a new tractor that is the right size for my needs but not everybody wants to commit to sixty months or more at $400 a month. Craigslist can be fun once you learn how to run the search function. For starters just type in John deere and see what you get. then pick one of the other regional lists up at the top left. When your done looking at green plug in Kabota and start again. If you type in Harrows you will get one list and if you switch to disks you will get another with some overlap for those that typed in disk harrows in their description. If you type in planters corn and bean planters mixed in with a lot of funny shaped flower pots.
Have fun. :)
Oh and one of these would do nicely on 90 acres.

Welcome from FL. I too am new to this site. My land is not as expansive as yours (20 acres) nor was it cleared when I bought it, but I am working on clearing and putting in pasture grass so I can lighten the hay bill. Amazing what 8 goats can eat! LOL I started out with a little 26hp and I found myself abusing it, so I just purchased a new Kubota 37hp. Wow what a difference, but now I am wondering if I should of gone one bigger.
