No... kind of the opposite.
I'm 4th generation Oakland CA... Grandmother went through the 1906 earthquake in SF.
I had a High School teacher from Purdy on Puget Sound... actually had her for 7th grade and in High School and she had kids in the school too.
She retired back to Washington and invited us to visit... made two trips with friends while in High School... on the first one... she took us to visit the Capital and Olympia and out Boston Harbor way... I told everyone that one day I was going to buy a house here... took 30 years to make it happen.
Actually more to the story as the Hospital where I worked was being sold and all the employees were invited to apply for our jobs... I decided it would be the perfect time to move... long story short... an injunction was filed that stopped the sale on the day the new signage was going up... I went from my last day at work to being asked to stay... thinking it over... I decided a few more paychecks wouldn't be a bad thing and that's the rest of the story.
Well almost... did some work in Austria after college and loved it... Western Washington really reminds me of Austria and it's so nice not to be surrounded by brown California foliage and drought!
There really isn't any place that can compare with the beauty of Washington... the mountains, parks and sound!
One thing I did not realize is Olympia and King County are very closely aligned with SF Bay Area Politics... sometimes Olympia reminds me of Berkeley California... protests and all.
