New member looking to buy

I am looking to buy a 20-25hp tractor for home use, mowing, loader work, tilling, road maintance. I like the yanmar greys, and the older JD 750 series. I am in WA so am a little out of the main stream of the compact tractor area. You guy have a great forum.

I guess it depends on your budget as to how new to buy.

Massey Ferguson 135, 8N Ford, Ferguson 35 just to name three are quite plentiful and many have either been restored or with rebuilt engines. The is some forums discussing pricing. Do you homework and search the net on average price compared to condition. You want a solid engine, tranny, and wheels. Cosmetics can be your part time project. Always look at a tractor in person. Take someone that knows tractors if you can.

Well, I was waiting to get my oil change at the local Chevy dealer (I should do it myself). And, I found an FX18d with a nice loader about 50 mile from where we will move to, Othello, WA. EFC Equipment in Benton City, WA has a good footprint on the Web. He wants $8000 for the tractor. It has 1400hrs on it. It is not a VN rebuild. I like the PS, and power shift on the right fender. I will be there on the 17th moving from TX. He said he will call me if someone else take a liken to the tractor.

Here is a question, if every is in good working condtion is $8000 way too much for the tractor, considering everything I have looked at in the NW is $1000 more that here in TX or the South?
