Carey, your probably right, however, I still believe the 2700 came with only 2 wheel drive. I believe there is some wrong information on internet indicating there was a 4 wheel drive. I challenge you to find a picture of a 4 wheel drive model or a 2700 parts manual or any other "Yanmar" documentation showing a 4 wheel drive model. I'm probably wrong but it won't be the first time.

There is a 2700L, I have no idea the difference between it and the 2700. The 2200 and 2700 also were odd in having glow plugs instead of the thermostart system.

There's a 2700 MFWD 4wd. That's how I knew that they did make that option. Found that out over a decade ago looking up the YM2500. It is only 2WD. Argument is no Pics of them in 4wd.? I'm sure there are somewhere. The 2wd. is super rare so I could just Imagine how rare finding a 2700 and then the 4WD. option. 1972Yr. manufactured. Pics. are going to be super hard to find.

Here a 2210D Basicly a 2200D. They did a MFWD on it. 2200 with all the Bells/Whistles. the 2500-2700 was such a rare model MFWD 4WD pics. of that model may not exist? Does the 3000 use the same MFWD 4wd. on it? Yes is my Guess. The YM2500 was a Fredricks refurb. also.

Per Yanmars official listing on the Japan site before their refresh, I snagged a PDF showing what they did make. Here is a clip of that section,

Only a 2WD YM2700 is shown. Yet, this info seems to be vague. I know for a fact there are plenty of YM2610D machines out there.

The YM200 and YM2700 share a few things, yet those two were odd machines in the YM lineup. Zen-Noh wanted machines from various Japan manufactures to have certain arrangements being the same or similar for their purposes. Not only did these machines have glow-plugs, the hydraulic suction line system is so different too. These two may look like YM machines, yet their under hood and other characteristics are very different. The old YM173 and YM273 machines are both strange critters in the line up as well.

There are plenty of one-offs Yanmar made. When these machines are exported to the Gray Market, refurbished and all, the special coding letter gets dropped. Thus, nobody knows exactly what they have overall.

Some machines came with the optional power steering, 3PT draft control, swivel seats, different air intake and filter arrangements, different low gears in the same gear housing, etc.

There is no known cheat sheet to figure all of this out.

There is a YM3000R We joke around saying it's the Yanmar Racer.

Do you recall Robin who had a YM3000R, it got restored and the R was left off, he posses with his racer of a Yanmar,

The simplest distinction that makes YM2200 and YM2700 unique is the air cleaner sticking up through the hood, and the exhaust on the left side of the block.

Some of the claimed photos above don't have these features.


Dill38, does your tractor have 4 wheel drive, a hole in the hood, and the exhaust on the left?
