The sanding and grinding was pretty easy, the paint went on the body well with a low nap mini roller since its so flat. I had to replace the bottom 1/2 of the seat pan with a new section I folded up. I split it at the bend where the base joins the back and lap jointed the new section. Kermit spent some time being stored outside so the combination of rain and seat foam did a number to the sheet metal. Kermit seat pan.jpg

So, 7 years later and Kermit's still kicking! Bought a 5 cu ft bucket, modded a Kubota snow plow and built a 6" wide by 2 ft long trenching bucket for a cable run. I have the usual cold start problems in winter, finally built a decent exhaust header and run a REAL muffler, which helps on the exhaust heat issues. Did the EH72fi install in my friend's PT425 at his request after his blew off and oil line and threw a rod. That was an experience in modification and fabrication (and still is on occasion).

Glad to hear it's still kicking! And you, too. (y)

Nice!

Some years ago, my nephew fabbed a new exhaust system for my robins 22hp, out of stainless dairy milk pipe and a fire extinguisher bottle. He used the stock one for model of position and spacing of the flanges. Pretty amazing, i think i have pics someplace. The old one was just a bit tight between the two exhaust ports that made it so one had to kind of lever it back on, over the studs, and the new one was exactly the same. It made the engine so much quieter and cooler.

Nice acorn fab table! Great looking exhaust header, too!

Thanks for sharing.

All the best,

Peter

I had a spare stock exhaust, cut open the muffler and it was just 2 square tubes with holes drilled in them, explains the noise and back pressure issues.
