new member owner of 1985 Yanmar Tractor

I am having difficulty with my tractor. I have changed fuel Filter and bowl, this is a diesel tractor, will only run for about 30 seconds then cuts off. I am thinking about purchasing a new tractor, not sure which tractors are safest. I mostly bushhog pastures, and move large round bales of hay around. I also am concerned about cost and easiest brands to work on myself instead of paying a high hourly rate to a mechanic.
