I just posted this also on the Kubota site as this is the brand I'm leaning forward with.

Hello everyone! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've been lurking for the past 6 weeks and finally became a member this morning! I really enjoy reading all the opinions on the site.

Here's where your many expertises can help me. I have 12 acres. Initially, I have to burn 10 piles of trees that are 30Lx20Wx15H. Florida Dept of Forestry requires a frontloader on site for this. Renting is too expensive in this area.
Next is:
Leveling 8 acres, discing 10 acres.
Then I will be doing landscaping, driveway work, and building a culvert to jump my creek and get to the back 2 acres. The back 2 acres must repeat all the processes above.

The following tractors w/FELs are being considered:
1. Kubota L2800/3400 (28/34.7hp)
2. Branson 3510 (35hp)
3. Mahindra 2810 / 3015hst (28/30hp)
Prefer HST because of FEL work but gear driven will suffice.

The Kubota dealer is in town. The Branson/Mahindra dealers are within 25 miles. I think I have narrowed the field and would like to hear from everyone that was once in my shoes.

Please help and thanks in advance!!

Welcome, but please don't double-post. It causes disjointed conversations on the same topic.

I have an L3400. For the price difference between the 2800 and the 3400 go for the 3400. My tractor does all I ask it to do and more. The L3400 has live power and the controls are convenient for me. I am sure others will give you good advice on the other brands. I have not run them so will just say you will not be disapointed with the 3400.

Since this involves more than just the kubota tractor.. I'm gonna guess it belongs here.. and not in the kubota forum. That said.. I'll try to give you my 'opinion'.

I think in order of preference and durability.. it will be

kubota
mahindra
bransen

Of course.. price per hp/feature will probably read reverse of that.

All will do what you want. Pick the features you must have.. then look for the features you want. Weigh the featurs and price per model. Consider heavilly how the dealer acts and treats you.. and whether they will be there tomorrow to service you.

Also.. on the creek.. consider a box culvert... they make a great bridge.. or bridge foundation.

I just did a similar comparison.

The L2800 I liked and it ended up being #2.

For 500 bucks more I got a Mahindra 3510. 7 more HP, shuttle shift, and a lot more loader, and a lot more weight. You say you need to level land. As in what?? Plow, disc and drag? Or more on the order of bulldozer work? Either way, weight is your friend.

I'm certainly not trying to persuade you ,But have you considered looking at Kioti ? I am impressed with their products and cost . A DK35 sounds about right .

HI BOB and welcome to the forum! i like the 3400 with hst and fel. seems like you have enough projects to warrant that size machine.

I think you have to go to the L3430 to get the HST tranny.

2005 L2800/L3400s will be available with HST.
Kubota does not have it listed on their site yet.
Here is a link a site with them. Click Here
