Re: New member - PT 422/425 finish mower ?\'s

I have a PT425. I bought the 48" finish mower, a mistake I regret. It is not just how wide a swath you can cut or how fast you can mow.

I bought the 48" because I thought it would let me get into tight places. Experience shows that most places too close for the 60" are also too close for the 48"

The advantage the 60" will have is letting you get closer to walls, fences (especially barbed wire), etc. When the tractor is as wide or wider that the mower there are clearance problems

Your welcome. Just let me know whenever your up this way and we'll schedule you some seat time. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If it's gonna be a while before your ready to make a decision that will work out better. Grass cutting season will be full force by then so you can come out and test drive with the deck down making sure to hit the all the area I cut on a normal basis. A matter of fact you should probably test drive it for 2.5 hrs at a time, once a week for three to four weeks. You'll get to know the PT better and I'll have a great looking yard. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Just kidding, besides I'd miss the seat time myself! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have a friend who purchased a factory rebuilt 422 from Power-Trac about 1 year ago less than 75 hours on new motor. He wants to sell it, lives in Springfield. His wife likes the tractor, he don't. He has 60" blade, L.M.B., forks, and 48" mower deck. They are asking $ 8000.00 OBO

Sounds like a fair price for that package, it that is close to the set of attachments that he might want...

I bought a used, one-owner machine with 250 hours and have been spending some of the money I saved buying other attachments...

Thanks for the information regarding your friend's PT-422.

Until we sell our current home and get settled in our new place, I won't be able to purchase any tractor, MUT, CUT or otherwise. Also, I'm leaning towards the 425 at this point as well as the 60" finish mower, but, the savings buying used does appeal to me. I'll keep this in mind when the time comes - thanks!

maujerpt422,

It's getting close to purchase time and I'd like to get some more information regarding your friend's used PT422, if it is still for sale. I sent you a PM.

Thanks!
