John Deere L130, Sabre 2554HV
Hello I'd like to introduce myself first. I'm Jon and I build RC mowers. My father (NOT MYSELF) worked as a Service Manager/Mechanic for John Deere for 44 years. Unfortunately he's no longer with us to ask the vast amount of questions I have.

Due to his dedication and commitment to John Deere, I've been pretty strict in making sure I keep one for my personal use. So about a year ago after the transaxle in his old x300 decided to join my dad in heaven, I went back to the dealer where he worked for so many years. They are now Massey Ferguson/Gravely dealership but have serviced our area so long that there's always a used JD mower on the lot.

I mow about 2 and a half acres and enjoy a stout tractor. So of my choices of used tractors I chose an L130 with about 425 hours on it. The floor pans/foot rest area is rusted bad as well as the deck, but they assured me they had gone through it and it was ready to work. Keep in mind I paid $1000 so I felt ok since it has the 23hp kohler engine and a 48" is alright for the price. About a month in and it started breaking. Its been 1 thing after another and as it sits a year later I nowhave about another $900 in it. Being very disappointed with this purchase, I decided to trade an older 4 wheeler that a customer abandoned to a buddy of mine for a Sabre 25/54 This thing looks tuff and not near the rust bucket that the L130 is. In addition to the bigger 25hp Kohler and the bigger 54" deck it also has 16x7.50-8" front tires and 24x12.00-12" rears that bolt on. It already had (by my amateur buddy) a newly replaced flywheel, coils and various other parts but wouldn't start. So I traded. I tore it back down and replaced the woodruff key and it fired right up. It actually runs like a rolex, mows beautifully. I have a total of $650 (Including the trade) in this machine and although I'm sure dad would tell me its junk... It's twice the mower that my L130 is. But I need to find out if its a S2554 or a 2554HV Actually I really don't even care, I love the Sabre but I would like to know what model JD parts/attachments fit this machine. I guess I mean is it the same as what JD model. I'm a single daddy of little people and really need a snowblower attachment. This will be replacing my L130.

Can anyone help me figure this out? I'd so greatly appreciate it. I'm sorry this is so long. BTW: My local dealer where my dad dedicated 44 years is no longer any help as they claim JD left a bad taste in their mouth.

Doesn't it have a model/serial number tag? Does that say anything about Model #?? I don't know where the tag would be --- maybe under the seat??

welcome!

you say it's a Sabre, if so it's a Green color(not JD Green) and would be a "2554HV"
if it's orange, its a Scotts that would be the "S2554"
