Tractor
Kubota GL3240
I am about to make my first tractor purchase and have tons of questions. I have been reading about different brands over the last few months. The wife and I have purchased 14 acres in Lebanon, TN and hope to build a house there in the next year or two. There will be a 1/2 mile long gravel drive to maintain along with mowing some light clearing. Trying to figure out what is the best tractor for me. Going to go with a hydro unit or a power reverser type tractor. I have a lot of loader work to do building the drive. Thinking about a tractor around 30 HP so I can run at least a 5' bush hog. I am leaning towards JD because of their pedal design over the kubota's but I am open to any and all suggestions.

Thanks,
Brian

Welcome. I enjoy my Kubota, but I'm sure you will find the right tractor, and enjoy it, whatever it is.

Welcome to TBN!!

I'm sure you meant 20 or 30 HP rather then 10 HP.
If you're looking to buy new, take a look at a Deere 3320 which would do quite well for the tasks you described.
If you are considering used, consider a Deere 4300, 4310, 4400 or 4410. Very nice machines with strong loaders (you'd want the 430 loader on the 4300, 4310, 4400 or 4410).

However, do a bunch of reading in the different forums. I like Deere, but there are other good manufacturers too. And definitely get your butt on some of these tractors to get a feel for hem.

Good luck!

Roy,

Yes, I meant 30 HP. I don't think I will be happy with anything smaller, all though I have found a lot of 24 to 26 HP tractors out there.
