John Deere 5410
Hello everyone. I've never joined any forums. This is the first one, so excuse any of my ignorance on forum etiquette. I have a 2000 john deere 5410 with some lighting issues. Dont know if they are related or individual.
1. Dash light only works in 5th position on switch. (1st being off)
2. Rear work light will not come on. I have 11.5 volts at connector. I've connected bulb straight to battery and it works but when plugged to connector it wont come on. Took volt meter and attached jumpers to bulb and touched connector, I lose voltage. Remove jumper and voltage appears.
3. Light switch and input wire to switch melted. Input wire pulling 9.98 Amps when in work position with no rear work light working. And 15 Amps when in 4th position on switch.( high beams and flashers).
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

I see that you've already started a thread regarding your lighting problems/faults (although the common fault appears to be the positional light switch itself = replace it)

Enjoy the site... from wherever in the world you are.

Thanks for the welcoming. I'm from Georgia, USA. I did replace switch. To no avail, I still have same problem. Input wire still getting hot. I can hold finger on it but it is hot. Wondering if 10 amps load is normal or if there is a short somewhere. I'm going to keep testing. Hopefully I'll figure it out or get some help. Have a good day.
