Hey Twine, welcome aboard! As you've probably already seen, there's all kinds of (mostly) good info here and lots of experience to go around. Make yourself at home and share your stories!

Twine, that is my current project. I have a 1943 H in running condition that I got off ebay for $600, with 1943 H parts tractor I picked up off ebay for $100. My goal this winter is to get brakes working better and replace 5th gear, it currently jumps out of gear when going down the highway.

So far I used the H pulling a 4 yard dump trailer around the property. We had the driveway black topped, 22000 square feet worth, we had to add dirt to the edges about 160 square yards of dirt or 40 trailer loads. So it paid for itself already in my opinion.

Right off the bat, WELCOME! I'm sort of new here myself, but that needn't stop you from jumping in on any conversation. Friendly folks here, with plenty of collective knowledge to share.

A neighbor has a 1950 M he's trying to sell me. When I get more barn space, that may just happen. Also interested in another red tractor. I spotted a clean 574 on the way home yesterday. (Somewhere about 50 to 55 HP I'm thinking) I'm wanting something even bigger, but you just can't have too many tractors.

Back when I was a kid, our nearest neighbor had an H and a Super C FarmAll. Every morning, he'd fire up one of them for his trip to the mailbox after his morning newspaper. That was my sign it was time to get up for school. YUCK! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Make sure you put a good muffler on that tractor, and don't start it at 5:30AM. Some poor child will be scarred for life against FarmAlls.
