Before I bought my 1540 in '07 I really wanted a John Deere. After using this tractor for a year and a half now, I realize I made the right decision. Except for a few minor things I'd like to see changed/revised, this tractor is fantastic. I'm a little disappointed to see that the new seat on the 1600 series isn't height adjustable, the loaders don't have better specs for lift, and apparently there is still no light kit for the ROPS. Those were really my only gripes about my 1540.

As it is, this is the finest tractor I've ever operated and I'm a very happy owner.

One final note about optional lighting. Instead of moving the amber flashers up on to the ROPS, MF should have put additional spot lights there and kept the flashers on the fenders.

I don't think so. I have my 1533 going on two years now and its been a solid rig! Although I may have to take a close look at the 1600 when one make it to this area
