Welcome to Lake George... Lake George is the second-largest freshwater lake (only Lake Okeechobee is larger)in Florida and the largest along the St.Johns River. It covers 46,000 acres (14 miles by 6 miles), George lies half-way between the headwaters of the St. Johns River (the Melbourne/Palm Bay area) and the river's closure with the mighty Atlantic Ocean at Jacksonville.........

This is were I plan on building the Garage/Pole barn where the orange stakes are located. A 30' x 40' building. Now that it is mowed the land fill (hard pan) will be delivered and leveled for concrete slab foundation. I hope and plan on doing the land prep work this weekend and pour concrete early next week......

Hey Reddog this is the 5 acres where I plan on building my Garage/Pole Barn, so I first mowed it and looked for the best location for elevation, electricial and water hook-ups. Seems logical to me to mow it first before building, since I don't even know which areas are low in elevation and are prone to flood...

OK Big R... I've counted 15 acres cleared if my math is right.... how much acreage are you going to feed the beast?

I'm not quite sure on how many acres to feed her, we have 52 acres in all and this first 15 acres just laided out perfect for my immediate plans of building a garage for her, the bass boat & my old pick-up. So my land clearing is being put on hold temporialy till I get the Garage built. I hope to make great strides toward land prep work and pour concrete foundation next week and if everything goes to plan I'll have some additional photo's of that being done. Then I will tackle the remaining 37 acres with the beast. That 37 acres is going to be challenging to work, there is a heavy mix of different brush, trees, some wet areas, and rough terrain left from when pine and palm trees were cleared out many years ago.
When I get there this weekend I'll shot a couple of photos of that terrain. We actually jump on part of it last week and she went to town on about 1 acre and it seem like no problem, I felt I needed a starting place to begin and she created one for me........ I think I might have taken a picture of the rough stuff, yep here's one..

Sweet looking place. Your MF looks like a strong one. Are you loving the hogging? Have you had the heart thumping thrill of a big rock or log rumbling around under the mower. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Or the joy of mowing barbed wire /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Hey Pennwalk, No I can't say that I've mowed over any barbed wire yet or any rocks or stumps or the like. But we were told by the dealer that the "Bush Hog" 286 mower machine would eaisly handle 2" trees and shrubs. Then when we got her delivered the Dealers helper told me that it would handle things as large as the size of his arm, which was around 4".... I was a little unsure about that at first and didn't try anything that large the first couple of days.....But the third day I had one single pine tree that was left in the field all alone and in a bad location so I thought what the heck lets see if it will handle it, drove right over the tree and she ate it like it was nothing, quiet impressive. I will admitt the bush hog machine was a good buy for me.

What I'm most impressed with is the ease at which this tractor handles this rough heavy junk of wild growth and at how efficient it is on diesel fuel, I have only filled the tank up one and half times... I'm growing in confidence that whatever is front of her won't be there much longer. But in the air of caution in any areas of uncertainty I feel more comfortable backing in with the bush hog first and try on clearing enough space to make a judgement call on hows my best plan of attack.......

Big-R,
Very nice or should I say very mean machine.

I noticed the hog and box blade but it looked as if something else was on the trailer...could it have been a PHD?

The new MF dealer close to me has been in business for about a year and a half. I am keeping my eye on him to see how his inventory moves. Last time I was by there he had around 15 MF on the lot and added about 5 Kioti's.I have always liked MF but seems dealers are few and far between in my area. If he is still there when I look at Utility size the 461-471 will be a top contender.

Have FUN, Be SAFE!!

Hey Hunterridgefarm,

I just got back from property, after being on a 5 day "kick butt", take no names, type of mission...And I will admitt I'm a little tried.... You were correct on the PHD, is and was on trailer at delivery. However I'm still waiting on my pallet forks should get them the 20th of this month..... I've got lot of photos to post tomorrow of a couple new projects, oh ya after I'm done with work first, being away this long I'm sure that load will be heavy tooo.....
