"New" old Mott 48 Hammer Knife Mower!!

No way is this going to a car wash or being sand blasted. It is completely original with only surface rust in the corners.snip

I was about to comment what good shape the mower looks to be in when I read the comment about painting it??? Different people value different things, I guess.

Mott invented the flail mower. After his death, his company was acquired by Alamo. His products were originally called Alamo Mott mowers and now, just Alamo.

I lubed up all the fittings last night. It still has the original Mott drive belt and all but 2 of the grease nipple plastic covers are still on it. The gears are perfect and the oil is clear and clean with no water in it. Does anyone know how old this thing might be? It has serial number 514. I think they started making flail mowers in the early 50's or late 40's.
