Just when I thought I had it figured out along comes you two, lol. The dealer will be putting the loader on for me so it should be put on correctly. No more than I use one I think the used one should be ok. I have not seen it in person yet but I plan on it this weekend. At what point (dollar amount) should you consider used over new?

if the used tractor was in great shape an $8000 to $10,000 below the cost of a new 1.then id seriously consider the used tractor.

For a cash deal I would go used for $4000 savings. Is the used unit coming from a dealer?

You will be getting a full warranty and zero hours for your $4,000.Either way,the L4240 is a very nice tractor....I have 537hrs on mine a 2008 HSTC.

I do not think you will be wrong going used. As to the $ to consider new, I think you are the the ballpark for me with the hours it has, but I am closer to bigbull338 due to the age. If it was year old with the hours and get out for 4k less, I would consider it. Just remember everybody has opinons, some even have good ones, and mine is just one of many. Buy what will make you happy.

The OP stated it is a 2009 unless I misread it. No warranty (I think the L's have 24 months) unless the dealer is going to give you something, and they can do that (if all the hours are put on at the dealership). I got six months one time just by asking.

Well, the $4k buys a lot of repairs. Or one of several major repairs, like an engine or tranny. Since most machines with 75 hrs are like new I think it is a no brainer to buy the used and there is an excellent chance you will keep all your saved money.

Other than calling the dealer, is there anyway to tell from the serial number exactly what year the tractor was built? I tried tractordata but they don't have the L series listed. Is there another site to go to?

Never mind, just called the dealer and he told me that the used tractor that I was looking at is a 2008 model and not 2009. Now I don't know what I'm going to do. I may try to talk the seller down in price since its a year older than he advertised.

When we buy used, we look at hours, features and condition, the year it was manufactured is immaterial; totally different than when considering car/truck values though I don't get too worked up over that either.
