Mahindra 1635 Cab
New to forum and new tractor owner. I purchased a 1635 with cab , fel, backhoe, 5' box blade. ( I am wondering if I should of went with a 6' bb..) Tge tractor is a hst and I wont get it for 7-10 day according to dealer. I live in the northeast corner of Maryland, bordering Pennsylvania. I have a gravel driveway and numerous other projects planned. I am new to owning a tractor but I've operated a few , older JD , and old Ford... I am sure as I get into the machine I will be a regular on this site as I like to do my own maintenance.

If anyone has opinions on the bb and size I am open for advice.

Some other things I may do , add a radio and a camera. I like the idea of a hitch added to the bb too.

How about the sun in the cab? Maybe tint or a sun screen? Anyone do this?

Notice no block heater also is this a issue? I am in mid-Atlantic not the coldest area so not sure. The machine will be outside till spring when I can get a building finished for it . I can and will use a battery tender as I rotate them on 4 wheelers and other sitting vehicles.

That's it for now ... Thanks in advance for any suggestions or info. ...

I would buy a box blade the same width as the loader. A wider one might cause clearance issues around obstacles.

When i bought my 2538 i got a 5 ft box blade with it and regretted it sold it and got a 6 ft. works much better now that it is out past the tires.

Welcome, and couple of suggestions to consider.

Agree with 3gunr about the box blade..IF..you have the hp to pull it loaded.

Also, being in the north, I'd suggest you go thru the starting procedures in the manual in cold weather, and let the machine warm up until the temp gauge shows warm fluid level. Nothing harder on a diesel, than running up the rpm before it's warmed up. Also, wouldn't operate any hydraulics until you move the tractor around to warm up the hydraulic fluid a little before putting a big load on the FEL, or 3 pt.

Others on this board may disagree, but I've never had a problem with mine, and I've got over 1000 hours on it.

Welcome! I am in MA and find the AC does the trick in the summer with the cab. I have a 2638. I installed the block heater on mine, but haven't had a chance to use it yet, lowest I've started it is in the teens so far. I usually turn the key to the left until the glow plug light turns off, start it up and let it idle at 1k rpm or so for 10-20 minutes depending on the temperature. Has worked well so far. For hydraulics, after I pull it out of the shipping container I lift and rotate the front loader, and move the rear spools fully. I have found doing that seems to be helpful for whatever reason.

Mine came with a bluetooth radio, but I added some aftermarket speakers and between those and the heat/ac, I really have been enjoying my tractor. Have about 50 hours now.

Good Luck and enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome everyone , and info...

I think I will call the dealer and upgrade to a 6'bb. I hate to buy something only to realize I needed something else.

This site is full of great info!

I agree. wish i would have gotten the next model mower up from mine with heavier deck etc... and i should have bought the higher HP 3616 instead of the 3016 i had.. PTO work eats the HP!

Today I got a call from the dealer and he explained that the 1635 cab will not mate properly with a backhoe. So I would have to go up a model to the 1640. He said it would only cost me roughly 600$ more. As he and mahindra would eat the rest (I can only go by what I was told). So I went for it and upgraded my bb to 6' from the 5'.

Not sure if anyone else ran into this as I dont believe my dealer intentionally misled me originally. I just dont believe they have been selling mahindra very long or maybe they dont sell many. Not sure . I already gave a deposit on the original purchase so I added a few dollars to the new purchase.

The lights are different on the other model I just realized. I liked the look of the headlights on the 1635 as they are halo type lights. Slightly longer hood as the engine is now 4 cylinder not 3.
