I have always been a Chevy/GM owner and we have been looking to get a new truck.

We looked at a lot of new & used trucks and the more we looked we found out we could buy new for the same price or maybe even less in some cases than buying used.

We also found out that we could get a nice 3/4 ton Ram for the price of a 1/2 ton GM. So that's what we ended up buying.

It's not fully loaded but still has a lot of nice options and was bought for less than a 1/2 ton Ford or GM that was already sitting on the lot. I think part of the difference in the prices is that Ford & GM both had more trucks with "option packages" instead of specific options that interested me.

Either way we are now driving a Ram 2500 with the Cummins diesel and so far after almost a week I am impressed.

Here it is.

Nice truck. I jumped from gmc to ram. Been very happy. But I do miss the allision transmission

I went it's the 6.4 gas. Had enough of the diesel emissions.

First thing to think of. is 3m paint protector tape and cover the bottom door sills I find my self sliding my boot acrossed the paint. So I put the tape on before I damaged it

Got a '14 Ram 3500 SRW w/CTD and Aisin trans... Love the truck but had the dead pedal..

Try this and tell me if you have it too..

Off the line, stomp on it and see if the truck sits for a second or two before taking off... Also try ... while driving down the road giving it steady gas, let go of the go pedal, like one would do if you've reached speed, but stomp on it quick as if you have to take off quick to avoid an accident.

Both those situations cause major dead pedal.. as if the throttle response is disconnected from the pedal... It drive me crazy!!

Nice truck.

I have had an 01, and 03, 04, & 12 ram diesel. They were all good trucks. Currently driving a 16 duramax. I get a new truck every couple of years and almost always get a different brand. My last truck was a 15 power stroke. Unless I switch brands or there are major design changes it really doesn't feel quite like a new truck because it is identical to the previous one. My 15 ford I wrecked and traded it sooner than I normally trade and the 16 fords were identical to the 15's so I tried GMC. I really like the GMC and am glad I got it but when it comes time to trade I will try all 3 before I make up my mind.

Did you get the Aisin tranny? The Rams have crazy high tow ratings with that tranny but not so much with the other option.

What kind of MPGs are you getting? My 16 dually duramax with a flatbed gets about 15-16 empty. I have a 3/4 ton 16 GMC and it gets around 18 empty. My 12 ram only got around 15-16 and it was a 3/4 ton but it had a flatbed. I think the flatbeds hurt your mpg by 2-3.

I didn't get the Aisin transmission but it is still rated at almost 18,000lbs towing.

I really haven't driven enough to check mileage but the one on the dash is showing 20.4mpg on regular 2 lane roads. I will probably fill up this weekend & check it then.

I did tow a loaded round bale hay wagon @ about 16,000lbs & you couldn't tell you had anything behind it.

It does have the dead pedal from a stop but not @ highway speeds. I was surprised at the amount of pickup it had @ 75 mph.

You would think that Dodge would of fixed the issues of years past like the dead pedal and a weak transmission and other things.
