new pond ahh lake

On are trip to the land this weekend, we had taken a few pictures of are pond. Now understand, this was not there last fall!!/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif It started as a little ice rink during the winter, and just got bigger as spring came. We do have a spring at the back of the property, so I think that may be seeping up though the ground. We had wanted to have a pond, but not this big. I guess we will see if it goes down this summer.

Paul: I have a very similar situation at my vacation home. It is a one acre lot with 108' frontage on an 80 acre lake. In late fall a wetlands develops and by December it freezes solid! By late April it is a large pond, and by June it has receeded 70%.On August 15, you can walk all through it in a pair of thongs without getting your toes damp! Nature works in strange ways! Enjoy,

Nice pond. Do you have problems in the fall with leafs filling up your pond? Last fall I had a pond dug and it is also by some trees which produce copious amounts of leafs. One side has more sun and I'm planting clover for the deer and switch grass for the pheasants.

The pond is not supposed to be there! When we purchased the property last September there was no water. A small ice skating rink appeared during November and the lake came after the snow melt. I checked it this morning and it has receded dramatically. I hope the water is gone within the next month.
