New posts vs Today's posts

Not a big deal, but curious. What is the difference between the "New Posts" tag and the "Today's Posts" Tag at the top of the main page? The posts listed in each area are slightly different but mostly the same. Seems to me to be a waste of valuable electrons filling memory slots in someone's server :unsure: .

"Todays Posts" are all posts including your posts from the last 24 hours.

"New Posts" are posts that you haven't seen since you clicked "Mark forums read":

I never click the "mark forums read" button.

But if you view a post/thread....it is automatically marked as read until there is new activity on said thread.

So when you click on "todays posts", all the post you havent read are shaded yellow. All the ones you have read are not. IF you clicked new posts instead, it omits the ones that arent yellow that you have already read

I always click the "mark forums read" buttons after scanning the new posts.
Next time that I click "New posts" it doesn't have to download as much data (y) .
