Good news!!! The 180 is in fantastic working order now!!! I used it for a couple hours this evening. And even found some concrete. Evidently next to my shed there was a short sidewalk with roughly 4'x4' sections that I was able to pick up and move outta the way. The downside. I have a leak in the left front. I couldn't find a nail or anything and now I'm debating taking it to a tire shop or just pumping some slime in it and calling it a day...

Gempler's Ultraseal tire products - great stuff. I went 4 or more years without adding air. Impressive stuff but not cheap. Worth every penny in my opinion. I was getting flats constantly prior to using it. Now I have it in my ATV and tractor.

Ultraseal is so much better than slime...I have it in 32 tires on 6 machines and no flats/air in a few years.
If you look into it, and want to go forward, pm me about borrowing the pump. I'd consider mailing mine to any pt people.

Something else i found with tires, was the valve stem being pulled out. There were two in each rim, inside and outside, I got metal ones to replace the rubber ones on the outside and metal plugs for inside.

Yes, the inner stem was a real headache. It can be replaced with either a plug or just flip the existing rubber stem around so the cap and stem are inside. Obviously not if it's already damaged.

I've also welded chunks of pipe around the outer stem. No more ripped off.

So I thought I'd be smart and I tube my tires if they go flat. Well, I tubed one of them, and put the stem on the INSIDE HOLE!

I left it that way, but now I can't remember which one it is. Next time I have a problem, I'll MARK THE CORRECT SIDE, pull the tire off the rim, weld the hole shut, and tube it right-side-out!

That's pretty funny, oh I found a group on facebook for power trac owners if anyone is interested.

On that subject, how many of you to your own tire removal? I found out a trick that works really well to get the tire off the rim....

take it to a tire shop. :D

But seriously, I took it in once and they only charged me $10 to remove the tire and install the tube I supplied. Now, they no longer will do that due to liability. So, I do it myself at home with some harbor freight pry bars. I'm thinking of getting 1 of these for $40 at Harbor Freight. With a 20% off coupon it would only be $32.

I have only done it with pry bars, and not for a long time. And no, I don稚 miss it. It was a bad combination of bad roads, bad Firestone tires that at one point gave us seventeen flats in six weeks. We got really good at tire changes and repair. Practice makes perfect and all that. We went to Michelin tubeless and had one flat in eighteen months on the same roads. Ask me which brand I have bought for the rest of my life...

That tire replacement stand takes a lot of stress. So, you would probably need to bolt it down, which means having a permanent spot for it. That alone would keep me from doing it. You may have more room in your shop than I do.

As always, YMMV...

All the best,

Peter
