Has anyone found a cross reference yet for the pt425 hydraulic oil filter (PT part #F063 - 1 ). There have been a lot of cross reference #'s floating around the PT forum, but I have not found one that is the right one. The NAPA Gold #1551 is not the right size. MossRoad has already found out the same thing, and posted it in a previous post. The 1551 is a little bit smaller filter and the rubber gasket is a little bit smaller also. If someone has found the correct replacement filter, please post it. Thanks.

Just adding a bit more.

Napa 1551 is a return line filter not a suction line filter per Napa.

Anyone have problems with cavitation? Our filter supplier thinks that 10 micron is extremely fine and the slightest bit of debris will clog the filter causing cavitation. He stated he usually sees 100 mesh on the suction side and 10 micron on the return side (if the PT had a return side).

Anyone have an opinion on this?

Talked to Terry - he didn't seem to have any more information regarding this issue.

Tak,

You indicated that your supplier suggested 100 mesh on the inlet side. That does seem a bit large, since 100 mesh = 149 microns Mesh/Micron Conversion Chart. I would feel better I think with something about half that size, like 50-75 microns as the limit.

What is the mesh/micron size of our OEM filters?

Thanks for all the info.

td,

PT application is different - no return line filter. Therefore, maybe the oem spec of 10 microns is correct. It's just that Terry didn't seem so confident when I questioned him about it.

I don't know if 10 micron is overkill or not but keep in mind that the oil on the suction line goes directly into your pump, the larger micron filter you have is the larger particles of debris that can get through into your pumps and that will shorten the life of the pump, and any thing else down stream from it like the wheel motors.

bubenberg, i did find that onan and cub cadet ,robin and i think kohler all have the same filter.i ran the part numbers by the local napa store and they have the a filter.i didn't get the number because they wanted over 8 dollars the same price as onan filter. i will look into it more later.

1250 mesh is equal to 10 microns which is .0004 inches

100 mesh is equal to 149 microns which is .0059 inches

Hope this helps.

If the robin engine filter is the same as the older ONAN's (opposed twin) then you can use the motorcraft FL-400S, Fram TG3600 or Purilator Pure One 20195. I have found these filter to be much better than stock Onan. They have three times the filtration area and finer filtration.
