Ive been wondering if there is a difference of traction between the new and old R4's. I like the curve look which looks it would cut then the dirt/mud would slip off the sides. The new R4 tire is in my signiture. The one in the signiture is featured on a new JohnDeere 3520.

Those are the Galaxy Marathoner tires...I wouldnt call them "New"....but they are of a different design i guess. They're typically referred to here as the "Larger R4's" when people are talking 3000 series machines.

I've got them on my 3520 Cab and I absouletly love them. Played around with them in pretty much all conditions here and all in all I still love them. If I had to buy a new machine tomorrow, I'd get the same tires again.

So when did they come out?

Looking at a JD sales manual from Feb. 2005, there were two sizes of R4 tires available then, so I would say they have been available ever since the 3000 Twenty series came out. The smaller sizes were 25x8.5-14, 6 PR Front with 15-19.5, 6 PR Rear, and the larger sizes were 27x8.5-15, 6 PR Front with 43x16-20, 4 PR Rear.

Do they have the same quality of more? I never saw them when my dad got his 3720 in 05.
